Clap yeah. It is quite interesting the differences between this forum and that.  I think a lot has to do in the demographics.

Anyhow.  I should close them now since none of them are competitive and an hour or a day... or a week isn't going to make a difference but we'll keep to form here.

One hour to closing in the 2nd Round Lima and Rome matches!!

Just thinking... this thread title has no meaning for us, Brasilians, Peruvians, Australians, etc.

Anyway, since today is our SUMMER Solstice, I wish a merry WINTER for those living in the northern part of this planet. Meanwhile, tomorrow I'll leave for the beach, one week of sun, beer, bikini girls to be watched, sand everywhere Ouch, salt replacing your skin Censored and things like that... be back before New Year to check Micky's curse for those that voted Camel. Big smile

LOLLOL no sh*t brother...  I've got the emergency duty this week I just got my first emergency call of the X-mas holliday break.

Building lights flickering.. checked the main disconnect switch.. a nice 1000 amp jobbie and told the maintenance super... OH f**k NO!!!LOL

there was water pouring of it,  2 inches of water on the floor in front of it.  A broken conduit in the ground that with the monsoon we have had here all that ground water went into the service conduit and thus into the disconnect.

I told him... I have power at my house...  I die if I try f**king with that. See you Friday after YOU get the water out. LOL

I will freely confess - I have not ready every post in this thread.  Doing so requires more attention span than I am usually able to muster!  So, I hope I'm not repeating, but I'd like to see Tool added to the list.  I think they introduced a lot of straight-up headbangers (there are a lot of those where I live!) to progressiveness.  Their output may be a little uneven, but they are a quality band.

*micky here*

A little late for that I suppose hahah.  There were more a few bands we could have included. As I did try to make clear earlier in the thread. Once you got past the 15-20 real important no brainer groups, you had a 2nd division of what..50..75.. 100 groups we could have chosen from. Tool was certainly among them.  As was obvious with the results, the poll as well as the forum and their tastes in general tend to run more.. classic prog. So the selections were obviously geared to that. While some of the stylistic and era differences were interesting. Most results went as we expected. Big heavies beat bands lesser known but generally of higher quality and classic era bands, even if a bit vanilla, beat modern bands, even if truly and completely progressive.

I suppose Tool could have, perhaps even should have, been included over some of the other 'modern' bands put into the contest.  If it had really been more a subjective attempt to put together a list of 64 'greats' with some modern bands put in I suppose Tool certainly would have made it in over some others. It really was done for the fun, I mean really..  why else would we have included Camel otherwise.  LOL

Keep your ears on however for the upcoming 2015 Battle of the Albums.  Tool is certainly already involved in that and will follow a very different format as this band contest did.  While the band selections were done relatively quickly, we are likely going to spend several months debating the bands/albums to included.  It should be a real hoot.

speaking of the battle of the bands.

Will close the Portland and Detroit regional semi's Saturday, the Lima-Rome Sunday.

With the holidays and the domestic disruption here having to share a computer with Raff since my computer 'fell' off the balcony and splattered on the pavement in a classic Holiday suicide LOL, the tournament will take a week break then kick off the Sunday after New Years with the 4 regional finals. I figure most that were going to vote in the regional semi's have, even with the late week holiday breaks most sane people take to spend with families rather posting on internet forums haha.  So I'm to cap them at a week like the other earlier rounds even if few people are around. Since most, many may not be around in the next week it makes sense to me to delay the regional finals. For what it is worth of course.

and speaking of the 2015 Battle of the Albums...

the details are being hashed out.. but as always.. if you have suggestions of classic prog/progressive albums from.. say 1967 to 2013 you think should be included. Do post them here.  I'll check suggestions here versus what we are coming up with and see if any of you come up with better ideas or suggestions than we are.

I'm looking forward to a Battle of the Albums very much - will each artist be restricted to just one album? Or two? Or however many? And I hope each PA subgenre is represented by more than one album.
