As someone who considers Beardfish to be one their favorite bands (definitely my favorite that started after the 60s and 70s) there is not a single Beardfish album after their debut (which I still consider a good album) that I am not totally and completely in love with and I'm sure this one will be no different. Admittedly the Void, Mammoth, and even The Sane Day took time to warm up to but I have definitely fallen in love with all three.

[QUOTE=Aussie-Byrd-Brother] Card-carrying `The Void' fan right here, shame so many people write the album off altogether.
"There's too much growling on it, etc etc blah blah blah" Seriously, I'm pretty sure the entire amount of growling on the album would barely equal 20 seconds all up?! A hugely talented band![/QUOTEo] They've indeed hit onto a smart, support of a lesser explorerd, sub-genre of Prog.............. |

Oh no problem! Sometimes I just take things too personally. Whatever they put out I'm sure I will love. I started getting into them around SiT2 as well, which is when they really started blowing up around this site. They're in my #3 most played spot on last.fm for a reason, with a lot of staying power and enough uniqueness to keep retro-prog fresh. They singlehandedly pulled me out of the prog-metal ghetto those years ago

Not bad at all, not bad at all..
Not as moody as i was hoping for, but not as metallic/rift based. Guitar is on point over all. It does go back into the generic alt-rock sound about half way through, but there are some great moments that remind me of Destined Solitaire. Great ending, vocals are how i like them from this band during the closing climax. Overall on first listen i'll give it a 3.75/5 Pretty good song, i can see myself listening to it.

Nice. Sounds like Mammoth with a bit of Void thrown in.

Excellent new track from the non-Spock Beardsters... their strength has always been in their "melodic quirkiness", and that is certainly present.
Looks like they enjoy a good beer as well, heh.

So does anyone understand the "+4626" part of the title? Cuz I gotta say, doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

I actually think the number does sound cool :D
I pronounce it as two separate numbers though, for maximum effect! FORTY-SIX, TWENTY-SIX |

But does it mean anything?
You forgot to pronounce the plus sign. Or maybe the plus is silent?

I personally had only recently deepened into their music, each one of their albums sound quite unique and often they deserve repeated listening to appreciate any single nuance! I had great expectations on the new album as well, I only hope it will be sound much more consistent than The Void wasn't! It is not to say that it was not a good album, you can read my personal review here: http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=1325552 . I just hope that they will finally find their own recognizable style! |

Lost track of them a bit after 'Sleeping in Traffic', now expecting the mailman to bring the new album when it comes out.
