Used CD pickups
THE DOORS - "Weird Scenes Inside the Gold Mine" - excellent 2 disc compilation focusing on deep cuts but still covering the essential epics (but no Light My Fire!). I always wanted this as a kid but could never quite justify it since I had the albums. But a cooler looking comp you are not likely to find. GOAT - "Commune" - new album from dance-happy Krautrock hippies. From Sweden I think. WIRE - "Document and Eyewitness" - I had the earlier 1 CD pressing of this totally psychotic live album of experimental performance art before a hostile crowd. This adds a second disc of concurrent studio stuff that never made it to a Wire album plus more madness. |

Hey Phil, I didn't know you were into Papir....or is that a first try for you?
Anyhoo cool pick - just so happens to be my fave of the lot. I actually know the band personally and from waaaay before they morphed into Papir. Back from high school where they played this experimental indie rock with a girl named Line on vocals. Niclas, the guitarist, used to bring out some wonderful 'Saucerful of Secrets' vibes with his organ too. I guess some of that went into the making of what they've become now. You'll certainly pick up on it through Stundum - especially on the long cut. Oh and btw monsieur: I was just reminded of you here the other day whilst listening to some of what I'd personally call proto RIO albums from the avant end of France, and thought to myself: Philosaurus! I'm not sure what else to say, I was listening to Komintern's Le Bal du Rat Mort and it reminded me of you (and Samla Mammas Manna). Anyway do you that album? I think it's from 71 but it sounds like a blueprint of what went after some 6-7 years with the RIO movement. |

I knew it, I knew it ..youse guys cost me $$$
went for a lunchtime mall run to pick up an extension cord for my turntable which led me past a record store (HMV) I picked up: Pink Floyd - The Endless River (deluxe 2-disc set) as I was in the P section I came across and bought: Porcupine Tree - in absentia Porcupine Tree - DEADWING (the only 2 they had and they were on for 2/25$) These are the first 2 I have - a direct result of being introduced to them here, and liking what I've heard. I cannot blame ACDC - Rock or Bust on this place Edited by Walton Street - December 03 2014 at 11:33 |

Went to Target for some new earbuds and ended up also buying the new 2 disc reissue of Led Zeppelin's 4th album. Been a while since I bought that album . Sounds great in the car so far. This is my first, probably not my last, Zeppelin remaster purchase.

Not sure how I was turned on to Papir...probably read about them online...but I listened to IIII on youtube and I was enthralled from the get go. Every once in awhile I get an urge to focus more on the ROCK side of progressive rock and these guys fit in perfectly to that itch. Decided to buy Standum first...I'm sure I'll like it. And that's pretty sweet! I wish I knew random bands personally. Hopefully you can get free entrance on their local shows. And interesting! I haven;;t hear of Komintern...I like the sound of it though. I'll investigate...thanks
