I'm a big fan of Gilmour's voice and songwriting, so I was initially upset there's just one song on the album. But I keep finding myself listening to it from start to finish again and again. It gets better with every one. I especially like Anisina through Autumn '68.

I expected the album to be at least likeable, but it's definitely beaten my expectations and I really do enjoy it, best Floyd album since the Wall, the most genuinely Floyd-sounding album since Animals.
It's not perfect, but for a collage of ambient instrumentals it generally flows well, manages to strike a good balance between sounding like classic Floyd and sounding modern, and it just hits the right chord, and manages to feel like a poignant end by the time it finishes.

After two listens, I must say that it is a very good album. Very close to what I imagined it would be only better. I'm a bit surprised that the only vocal track on the album is my least favorite.

Hahaha. I think... that at the time you had it listed in your Location. It's been a while, and a lot has happened in the mean time outside PA, so I guess I forgot.

You actually did, but that was almost 4 years ago, so it is not a real surprise that you don't remember .

A beautiful PF album. Pretty ambiental indeed, and sometimes in the vein of a less-jazzy ECM records, a la e.g. After The Rain by Terje Rypdal; I love it.

Me too. Got my preorder on Friday. First impression based on 1 listen: like a big meal made up of tiny snacks and a lot of the snacks are simple salads. It's definately something they haven't done before and there are a lot of references to earlier stuff.

They're not over. But you have to do something different these days. Like forcibly shove it down the throats of ipods!

The release date in Sweden is next week, on thursday, but the record shops sneaked it out today because of Father's Day on sunday.
I've just finished my first listen and I'm thoroughly pleased. The first side gave me goose bumps and brought tears to my eyes. Second side showcases a newborn Nick. He hasn't played like that since Pompeii. And Autumn of 68, what a little beauty. Lots of goodies here methinks and it went straight to my heart. |

So am I. My first impression is quite similar to yours. A pleasant listen, but not very impressive. I'll give it some more spins, but I'm quite sure that this album won't make it to my top 10 of 2014, which has revealed itself as a great prog year. 3 stars would be an appropriate rating.

21 tracks in all, and although it's beautiful Floyd work, I'm not very much impressed yet. |

I don't see it either, it's probably because they only allow it to countries where it was released today: Australia and Germany.
