I don't see it either, it's probably because they only allow it to countries where it was released today: Australia and Germany.

Went into our local music chain in Australia called JB Hifi and grabbed the standard CD (I was after the Bluray set, but there's a delay on it). I found just a few copies, placed alongside their previous albums.

I don't know...clearly I am just so out of touch that I kind of expected to see maybe a cardboard stand set up with dozens of copies, or maybe a poster or two....but no, just a few copies stacked with their endless reissues and nothing else to draw attention to it.

Now, I don't know if they'd put it out a few days early, so were trying to downplay it already being on the shelves, or that the days of big new albums being released are well and truly over, but it all seemed so....meh.

But as for the music, it generally sounds wonderful, certainly one of their most ambient/chilled-out albums. There's perhaps the odd moments here and there that try a bit too hard to make people think of their past albums ("Hey, that bit sounds just like `The Wall/Shine On/Dark Side...etc etc"), but there's plenty of sections that display real magic and exciting new directions they could have headed in...but now never will. In some ways, they try so hard to make you think of all the previous albums that it lets the parts of the album that are fresh and different down. But if you think of it as a loving farewell tribute and closure of their amazing past, this could be more forgiving.

Fans should cherish the album because this will probably be the last time you ever get to walk into a store and buy a BRAND NEW Pink Floyd album, and perhaps for some younger ones who've come to love the band, it will be their first and only time!

But without question, it's a triumph for intelligent, thoughtful music in an age where music is generally so disposable and unimportant.

Hope you guys enjoy it!
That's cheating
Bite your tongue, don't say a word, I'm sure this is quality Floyd for sure....
.......and of course, I love The Division Bell..........

I can only see 1 track on Spotify - Side 3, Pt. 4: Allons-y. Is there anything else?

21 tracks in all, and although it's beautiful Floyd work, I'm not very much impressed yet.

So am I. My first impression is quite similar to yours. A pleasant listen, but not very impressive. I'll give it some more spins, but I'm quite sure that this album won't make it to my top 10 of 2014, which has revealed itself as a great prog year. 3 stars would be an appropriate rating.

The release date in Sweden is next week, on thursday, but the record shops sneaked it out today because of Father's Day on sunday.
I've just finished my first listen and I'm thoroughly pleased. The first side gave me goose bumps and brought tears to my eyes. Second side showcases a newborn Nick. He hasn't played like that since Pompeii. And Autumn of 68, what a little beauty.
Lots of goodies here methinks and it went straight to my heart. Heart

You're Dutch? How come I didn't find that out years ago?

They're not over. But you have to do something different these days. Like forcibly shove it down the throats of ipods!

Me too. Got my preorder on Friday. First impression based on 1 listen: like a big meal made up of tiny snacks and a lot of the snacks are simple salads. It's definately something they haven't done before and there are a lot of references to earlier stuff.

A beautiful PF album. Pretty ambiental indeed, and sometimes in the vein of a less-jazzy ECM records, a la e.g. After The Rain by Terje Rypdal; I love it.

You actually did, but that was almost 4 years ago, so it is not a real surprise that you don't remember Smile.

Hahaha. I think... that at the time you had it listed in your Location. It's been a while, and a lot has happened in the mean time outside PA, so I guess I forgot.

After two listens, I must say that it is a very good album. Very close to what I imagined it would be only better. I'm a bit surprised that the only vocal track on the album is my least favorite.
"Hey there, Dog Man, now I drink from your bowl."

I expected the album to be at least likeable, but it's definitely beaten my expectations and I really do enjoy it, best Floyd album since the Wall, the most genuinely Floyd-sounding album since Animals.
It's not perfect, but for a collage of ambient instrumentals it generally flows well, manages to strike a good balance between sounding like classic Floyd and sounding modern, and it just hits the right chord, and manages to feel like a poignant end by the time it finishes.

I'm a big fan of Gilmour's voice and songwriting, so I was initially upset there's just one song on the album. But I keep finding myself listening to it from start to finish again and again. It gets better with every one. I especially like Anisina through Autumn '68.

I really don't care enough to listen to it to be honest. I was actually thinking about giving it a chance, but then I read the lyrics to "Louder than Words". Just atrocious.
