When I was in highschool I didn't have any alcohol parties.  Ours was more like meet up with a bunch of friends and walk around trying to see if we could scare anybody.  Maybe watch a scary movie later, and definitely decorate the sh*t out of stuff.

So something kind of major happened yesterday and I've not even figured out how to tell anyone about it, but it leaks out on FB and my mom hears about it second hand that way and now is all pissed at me for not telling her immediately. f**k it

It was my wife getting laid off btw. It would be a bigger deal if she didn't have a year of severance pay. And if she actually liked her job. Is it so wrong we need a couple of days to come to grips with it?

Oh Steve, I'm really sorry to hear that.  A year of severance is good, but hope you guys can weather this storm.  Best of luck to your wife and know I'm thinking of you guys.

No. I don't think there's a problem with that at all. Also, I think your mother is making this situation out the wrong way lol, no offense to your mother.

There are some things that happened in my life that I would NEVER write home about. And there are some things that happen that need to sink in before I share. Just the facts of life.

Sorry to hear about your wife. The severance pay is a nice bonus, but all-in-all still unfortunate. But maybe it will lead to better things.

She's been wanting to get out of there for years, she was so unhappy there but felt trapped by the fact that she had a good salary and insurance.  In a way, this is a big relief for her - it just puts some doubt on the future.

I'm sorry to hear that, Steve. I hope your mother comes to understand that you're still trying to process the situation and that your wife can find a new job.
