But people DO know about Swans offline. They've had two recent, critically-acclaimed, chart-placing albums y'know.

Also, I think I know two KD fans in person. Take that, Ryan.

I think if you know who Swans are, you're pretty much into "alternative" music.

Probably, but that encompasses a fair amount of people.

Of all the people I regularly encounter in my average day, only one has any chance of knowing who Swans are, and he knows who they are but doesn't like em.  (Johnny from Rare Goat)

I think he's mainly familiar with their early sound, though.  I played him a bit of The Seer once and he looked either amused or impressed, but admitted it was "scary".

And just to back up his credentials, he's the only other guy I've ever met in person who's a big Nomeansno fan.

The Seer is scary though.

Play him Just A Little Boy or Screenshot.

He might like Just a Little Boy - he and his wife have been in a blues phase lately.  They're regulars at a local blues joint, and are close friends with the house band.  I don't know how they don't get tired of seeing the same band play the same songs week after week.  I've seen em three times, and I have to admit those guys know how to put on a show.  But still, hey. A little electric blues goes a long way for me.

I mean - a lot of TBK is blues influenced imo.

But the obvious one is the song devoted to Howling Wolf LOL

Maybe it's simply where I live that people actually know of Swans. I've never seen it as a huge arts hub in general, though. Perhaps there is some hope for making music where I am.

Of the two I know that are into KD, I converted one myself, and may have even converted the other. Although they've played several times at the venue we play at a lot and the owner remembered them. He seemed to like them, but he described Coyote-era KD shows being "as boring as watching flies f***".

Who doesn't?

Though liking Coyote (or any KD) takes an acquired taste.

You'll get some haters, but most people are pretty supportive, at least where I'm at.

Also, new Foxygen kinda reminds me a lot of Ozark Soundscape.

I don't even know who Foxygen is and I feel insulted for them.
