^Nice one Simon. As a drummer this band really speaks to me.

Hey David, I checked out a live video performance of Goat on Youtube last night.  Pretty awesome.  I think it was a good introduction to get the visual experience first before checking out the LP.

I'm going to attempt a Sonic Youth marathon today.  I followed the band almost from the beginning but don't listen to them too much any more.  Some recent acquisitions of their experimental side releases in the "SYR" (Sonic Youth Records, their label) series has gotten me interested in revisiting them again.  Here's the first EP from way the hell back in 1981.  Pretty major Can fixation on this one.  Plus we learn from the cover that Thurston Moore used to be a dead ringer for Anthony Michael Hall.

Thumbs Up Such an outstanding album, but from Hemispheres to Hold Your Fire, I have absolutely no complaints.

Blew thru 2 cassette copies in my car....this happened a lot to me back then!

Love this album

Speaking of wearing out musical media, my dad said he wore this album out on vinyl when it came out. To this day, this is his favorite Rush album.

Ahh yes, the days of knowing when you listened to the krapp out of an album...you actually wore it out!

Well snap. I hadn't thought about checking out their live stuff. Must rectify when the shippers return.
I'd imagine it would be the right introduction to the band - especially from reading about them. Being from the most Northern part of Sweden, doing a 'Residents' masquerade thang plus splicing it up with tribalism and a bucket of acid should be in full force up on stage methinks.
Btw: Michael (Neu!mann) just wrote some excellent reviews of the debut and subsequent live album.

I'm obviously guessing here, but I strongly suspect their upcoming album to be the knees of the bee. Call it a gut feeling.
