I've been meaning to check these guys out.  Thanks for the reminder.
If they decide to put out a rarities album, I can't wait to see what they'll call it.

That sounds cool! I've seen you mention them before. I've put their two albums, as well as their upcoming one, on my wishlist, but, as you say, there is only so much you can do with the amount of dough you've got between your fingers, which in my case, as a kindergarten teacher assistent, isn't much either, so I don't know when I can get my hands on them. Hopefully before the end of the year.

Anyway, before:

and

Now:

Starting to really get into these guys! Surprised to see they've got no reviews. Really a hidden avant-garde black metal gem this band! Love how they mix violin in with their black metal sound, and switch between growls and lovely female vocals.

LOL
Yeah...these guys should be right down your alley, if only for the sweet name play.
If you dig that off kilter insanity, yet still incredibly melodic and tight interplay of Amon Düül ll ca Wolf City, then you're going to love this. I guess it's the combo of the guitar that does these wonderful swirling spiralling ornamentations on the riffing, and the zany shouty female vocals that does it. The guitars are actually very close to what you hear in the North African music style of Tishoumaren or Tuareg Blues. It's the same sort of "twinkles" you get from the guitar.
It would be interesting to hear whether John Weinzierl had heard of this music before doing an album like Wolf City. It'd be even cooler if he hadn't, and what he played just came from himself - even if he did arrive at a culture far far away.

I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on Goat, AudunSmile
Although they're a far cry from the kind of metal you've been digging the past couple of weeks, I still think you'd be able to find something interesting in their sound. I seem to remember you having a pretty open mind when it comes to new music.

Heh I realise I am painting a picture of this weird avantguard'ish' psychedelic band, but they're actually very easy on the ears. Lots of memorable melodies and these juicy guitar solos that aren't afraid of the ol wah wahBig smile

Yeah, I like a lot of different types of (progressive) music, so I guess you could say I'm pretty open minded.

Oh, and this metal phase I'm going through is just that, a phase. Soon I'll want to listen to something else entirely.

Looking forward to checking out Goat. You paint a very interesting picture of them.
