Probably your Enciclopedia and Atlas says that, if printed in USA or Western Europe. My Atlas talks about 6 continents as any Atlas from most Europe, and according to the British texts, there are ony 5 Continents, so I wont't have to choke as my friend Reed Lover said.

Nope, my encyclopedia is British actually... and just because your resources are outdated doesn't mean that time hasn't gone by...  Its the 21st Century here... how about where you live??

The funny thing is that i like USA and most of their people (Well I say most because there are a$$holes everywhere we have a good bunch here, specially inour Government), don't have nothing against them or their Government (I have a neutral position towards Bush). As I said I lived in the deep south of USA (Birmingham Alabama) a couple of years and enjoyed very much.

Only that even when we live in small third world countries we are as part of America as USA.

Maybe it's only that I'm stubborn.

Good idea about mapping Phil Collins head.

Do you think somewhere there's a cartography or geography forum where they have a dedicated long-running thread or two on the topic? I suppose someone might find that more important than Phil Collins (hard as it may be to imagine).

Hmmmm..  Do you think they have a Thread catagorie called "Things not related to Maps?

Maybe you will find a "Phil Collins Prog or not" thread in there?  Or more likely "Poll: "Has Phil Collins Head been charted yet?"

Their is a perfectly logical reason to distinguish between North and south America-they are completely seperate land masses floating on completely seperate tectonic plates.

Antarctica too is a continent-it has nothing to do with population;permanent or otherwise.

The seven continent model is taught in parts of Western Europe and North America, while the six continent (combined Eurasia) model is also taught in North America and is the primary continent model used in scientific contexts. The six continent (combined Americas) model is commonly taught in Europe and South America. The five continent model is normally taught in the United Kingdom and Mexico. The continents of the "five continents" model (as shown by the five Olympic Games flag rings) are speculated to be the five permamently populated continents (viewing Antarctica as only temporarily populated, and all the Americas as one).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continent

There's no logical reason to separate North from Soth America, because both are only one mass of earth not naturally separeted.

But again, that's not my point, from an historic point of view, America is the Continent discovered by Columbus in 1492, and not only USA.

Most people do not realise that Black Africa itself has a very guilty conscience where slavery is concerned.
Yes, The British Empire was an enormous bully and subjugator of peoples, but aren't we supposed to learn the lessons of history-not repeat them?

We were YOUR colony for Gods sake, Reed. Britain controled the trade in and out of this country. Anytime they wanted to stop the huge profits they could have.  Britian was our main model! So it's all your fault!

There is never any real peace is there no matter who is on top.  I would think we would be a bit more tolerant than lets say China or the Soviet Union if they were on top (ask the People in Budapest or the students in Bejieng)

Damn it man! Do we need another tea party?

How did we become the target (and the paradise)?  By helping win a war and helping a lot of countries win that war. You can't argue this. We outlasted the Soviet Union and became "the" power. It won't last forever and I guess the next big question is who replaces us?

Yep, my atlas, my dictionary and my encyclopedia says 7 continents.

North America, South American, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, & Antarctica

None of these say that both continents together are known as America... The only reference to anything known as just America is the USA.

Central America is actually a part of North America.
