Weird Owl - Healing and The Atomic Bitchwax - Atomic Bitchwax, which both bands I am surprised to not find listed as Prog bands on this site

I just can't get into VdGG. I think they're an inventive band, but, for me, they'll always be quite inaccessible. The music itself is quite good, but I just can't get past Hammill's insistent yammering.

^ I hear ya MI.....it took me awhile to semi-enjoy this album, along with H to the He to the Helium ![](smileys/smiley36.gif) , they are the two I can listen to without pulling my hair out to PH vocals.
Very inventive and experimental music for sure...people complain about Geddy Lee, but PH is the pits.

From Permanent Waves through Hold Your Fire is when Lee's voice really sounded the best to me. I don't like early Rush and I don't like late Rush, but their middle period is just solid gold IMHO and Lee's vocal work is has much more more nuance, subtlety, and yet it still retained a passion that's just infectious. Peter Hammill has never been a taste I acquired and I certainly wouldn't want to waste any more of my own time trying to get into his vocals when I know I'll just never appreciate them.

Essentially for me in my musical life I grew up with Geddy Lee, so I never had any problems with his vocals. Now 99% of the flack he got was from Rolling Stone reviewers, and I never read RS, all the other rock, metal mags I read in my teen years never slammed Geddy...Now RS is trying to redeem themselves and trying to join the Rush party.
I understand about Hammill, but I pay little attention to his vocals, at least I try. Grant it I have made myself listen to those two albums, which I like....I have not tried others in serious.
