Not happy at the Mo. Russia may be going through! AAgh! Then they would play Germany I guess. The further they get the more likely that w**ker Putin will tur up to make political capital.

Come on Algeria please score.

I’m happy that Algeria are through. But if what they showed us after the equalizer wasn’t "anti-football", Wikipedia must be wrong.

This imbecile wench certainly has the right to express her dislike of soccer but to denounce a game because of it's lack of thuggery or fights is like lobbying Formula One to demand more crashes at a Grand Prix. Judging by the rest of her remarks I would put good money on her being sufficiently cretinous to attempt to back the hare at a greyhound race.

Once again: I'm glad for the Belgians, nr. 1 in their group, but I'm disappointed by what they show on the field.
Surprised that the Algerians made it to the nr. 2 spot.
Surprised that Russia is out, as well as England, Italy, Spain, Portugal...
Surprised that there are only six remaning European countries, and that they are The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland and Greece.
Surprised about Costa Rica being nr. 1 in their group.

^ agree with pretty much all of that. Given that the Belgians have been winning but not playing to their full capabilities, I suspect that their next opponents (USA) might be in for a near fatal flogging? (I hope not, as I like the way the USA play and they exemplify the game played in the right competitive spirit)

Sad old b*****ds like me will remember that (West) Germany met Algeria at the World Cup in 1982 and jaws were raining from the heavens when the North Africans won 2v1Shocked What if...nah, it's too fanciful for words?

I like the US but of course I hope that the Belgians will be... flogging the Americans (I had to look up the word "flogging" - very educative, PA LOL )
Algeria actually won from Germany? Impressive, I don't remember. I remember from the 1982 tournament that the Italians won with very economic football. The day before I was in an Italian restaurant and the waiter said to me with a smile, raising his finger: "Domani, domani!" (Tomorrow, tomorrow).
See, I'm not the youngest person myself.

^ apologies for the quality of the vid (the audio even eventually drifts out of sync with the pictures alas) but here's an extract from one of my favorite football matches of all time

BTW your euphemistic description of the Italians playing 'very economic football' really means you're too polite to say they were cynical, defensive spoilers who 'killed' games to win them.Wink

Rossi was pretty good though back in 1982 for Italy but I hear what your saying Lain about the style of football they play.
I guess Uruguay is reeling with their star getting the boot from the tournament, but c'mon what did they think FIFA would do?

She is a sad imbecile, an ultra-conservative cretin that sadly gets a lot of press, and worse of all, a lot of fans from the "ma guns ma freedom ma god" crowd... It's embarrassing...

Ann Coulter is a media terrorist, always pushing the extreme right envelope and laughing out loud doing it. But like many others (O'Reilly, Beck and co), she is a  fraud when it comes to history and conveniently adds or omits what needs to fit her (their) agenda. Booooooring!

My thoughts? Thank goodness the cretins are around to remind us of their folly!

What is odd to me is that she is a woman sl*g.ing off soccer.  As women's soccer is very successful in The USA and the National team wins all the time.

She also conveniently forgets that women and men play together in tennis.  Unfortunately, I think she thinks she is being funny.

Germany's all-time record against Algeria is played two lost two so perhaps they're a bogey team? And if Algeria bring the man with the laser pen to distract the keeper again like in the Russia game...Really surprised the Russians haven't made more of that, I'd have been demanding a replay!

She is like that all the time, very linear mind , I followed her silliness for a while until I realized she is just a massive  twit. Does her research and willingly, forgets about it, just to be 'funny'Cool. Sort of like Palin but not as neurotic.
