So. USA throw the lead away through plain stupidity. Now they have to play Germany abd get something out of it and after playing in that heat it will cost them (it cost England and Italy).  If they go out only themselves to blame  - frustrating! 

Another shameful display by Portugal. But what can you expect from a team that is half-injured, half-sh*t?

That seems a smidgin harsh old cheesey gaff as I thought Portugal's equaliser was a brilliant goal created by probably the deadliest cross of the entire tournament to date (from Ronaldo). Yes, the USA could and perhaps should have put the game to bed long before then but were it not for the errors produced by the sternest pressure of a World Cup, there wouldn't be nearly so much thrilling drama. I really believe that the Americans will give Germany the fight of their lives in the final group game (as Deutschland ain't exactly been uber alles to date)

Algeria really surprised me against South Korea as in every world cup I have seen them perform, the north Africans have been irredeemably sh*te (apart from 1982 when they beat West Germany) Never thought they had four goals in them.

Costa Rica's victory over Italy was a delightful surprise (as I thought this Italian side were ordinary but had sufficient streetwise nous to progress to the final stages easily)

Here in Australia the reaction to back to back defeats has been welcomed as some sort of 'back from the brink' moral victory for our plucky boys in green and gold (or gold and erm... more gold versus Chile) Listening to the demagogue 'never was' that substantiates mediocrity = pundit (Craig Foster) you would be forgiven for thinking that the Socceroos had actually won the tournament, such is his rhapsodic and spittle flecked bluster about this generation of players having earned the respect of the world at football's highest level. 'we created enough scoring chances to win the tournament' should be emblazoned on his scarcely visited headstone. Blow it out your Palitoy didgeridoo cobber, the Aussies best players in Brazil are 34 ears old (Cahill and Bresciano) and apart from Matthew Leckie and (the underperforming) Tommy Oar there is nobody in the current squad going to cause any opposition manager any sleepless nights circa 2018. Yes, they battled bravely against technically superior opponents and did create scoring chances but where will the deficit in technique be funded four years hence?

Butt it isnot forwarding anything else then slowing down the atack speed which wwas Portugals biggeat problem was rhat him and Nani slows down the aytack so that US manage to restable themselvs, instead of carving in huge spped through huuuuuge gaps in the defence

Yes. The actual goal was a hum-dinger! Great cross etc

But, there with only a minute or less to go USA first had the ball in the corner and should have held it there and then when Portugal gave them the ball back, USA lost it to POR in the mid field when absolutely anything else (Booting the ball straight into row Z as an example) would have used up the 30 seconds from Mars (sorry 30 secs from a free pass to the next round) and bingo! But grrrrr no they had to go and try and play football!!

You might think they will give the Germans a hard time but I think the heat and humidity will have taken so much out of them that they will slump to the teutonic power !  Otherwise I might agree with you. 

When they gave the ball away at the  death they obviously didn't realise how much of my hard earned cash was riding on this! One whole of the Queens English Pounds! 

But if they do beat or get a draw out of the Germans I suspect there might be one or two more fans in the States ! It would be good>
