Hello, Neil from IQ here...

I just thought I'd pop in and thank everyone for the interesting feedback for 'The Road Of Bones' in this thread.  It's really interesting to know what people think, and useful feedback for us.

We're delighted to discover that we have been nominated in two categories in the 2014 "Prog" magazine Progressive Music Awards, for Best Album (The Road of Bones) and Best Anthem (From The Outside In).  If you've enjoyed the new album, we'd be deeply grateful if you could head over here and send a vote in our direction!!

Thanks again!

Neil

The 30th anniversary collector's edition of Lush Attic was bought for me on Fathers day! - I will have to take it all in plenty of extras on the DVD you get with IT!!!

I'll probably get around to reviewing it this weekend. A solid 4 stars i'd say and that rating will be for the main disc as I just don't include bonus tracks or discs in my evaluation. Yes the bonus disc is very good. I haven't bothered yet to check into this but is this really a concept album? I enjoy that sampled mellotron(at least I think it's sampled) and the bass and drumming especially. A safe album i'd say but really enjoyable.

IQ are taking center stage in my music listening these days.

The Road Of Bones has surprised the hell out of me. IQ have done everything right on this album and they have definitely built a stronger sound foundation from their previous album, Frequency.

I also really admire Mike Holmes's dedication to diversify with the use of his guitar sound.
I certainly enjoy the Kentucky Mandolin and Banjo on fall and rise, Until The End and the astoundingly diverse 'Hardcore.'

The reality is you can't as more from a band that is 30+ years-old.
I think IQ have done a tremendous job by still keeping the listener interested and creating some different walls of sounds.

maybe there well be a Symphonic Progressive Rock Band. that may put out 40+ minutes of Music. but its a wonderful grower of an IQ album, one day it will be a IQ classic album. I`m as most of you now I`m new to the band. but every album as been faster taken to my prog listening plausible, pleasurable and deep meaning MUSIC... all of this is because of listening to M27Barney ROJ & richardh talking about IQ and there Music. so to you three many thanks for the magical music of IQ...

I'm probably trying to be to 'objective' about this album which is virtually impossible. Eventually it will sit proudly as an excellent modern prog release. Certainly one of the best this year. Who else is going to release a double CD with this much quality? Not going to happen. However someone (I've no idea who) might sneakily put out a 40 minute album and nail it.

The latest release is solid symphonic prog - no more no less.
And it's a grower!!!

Have wisps of Prog metal in their too! Like Knucklehead.
That track reminds me of some of the raw heaviness that Arena do with in combining metal and modernized symph rock together. It's all great stuff. Every track on the album is wonderful. I find no fault....yet. ;)

Wow. 16 pages in and I really haven't said my peace about IQ.
I think I am very proud and honored to say that IQ are thee very best Neo-Prog band I have ever had the privilege of listening to. I really haven't discovered such a band as good as IQ. I love what they bring to the modernized symphonic Prog table. They have touched upon every emotion available that a human being can possibly feel while listening to music. I proud to say that IQ are one of my favourite bands of all time. I'm also proud to see The Road Of Bones doing so well in the rankings for 2014. #1 slot is right where it belongs.
