England deserved at least the equalizer IMO; their sin were the final shots, they need to improve this issue. Anyway both teams, Italy and England, played a great game.

Seems like I missed a great game....
Instead I had to watch Knowing with Nicolas Cage together with my sister. Yep you guessed it; it was kinda nice. The movie sucked big time when it suddenly started including something as mysterious as 'whispermen', who are these magical entities that are creepy and faux scary but really deep down inside want to help out some kids. These whispermen all look an awful lot like Billy Idol from the 80s.
What was I on about again? Oh yeah, I missed the match. Bummer.

^ What Roy Hodgson needs is a clinical and proven finisher in the final third.... If only Nicklas Bendtner were English (....says the entire population of Denmark)

Pretty much. I'll pay you ten kroner out of my own pocket to adopt him right now.
What Denmark really needs is another Michael Laudrup: someone with a natural feel for the game as well as some brains. Nicklas occasionally has the first, though not like Michael, but I highly suspect that thinking power forever shall elude him. I've seen bushes behaving more intelligently.

I didn't manage the Japan and Ivory coast. 2:1 sounds like we still have an average of over three goals per game.
Much better than the start to 2010.
And even though England lost, they had a much better start to this tournament. (and certainly better than Spain and Uruguay) It was nice to see the team trying to play football and not resorting to long ball from the goalkeeper. Italy probably just about deserved the win - its a shame we couldn't sort out the Left Back situation and it cost us.
I think, Rooney may not start the next game. We see.

Rooney was awful, totally perplexing. His miss rate was unacceptable surely for an England front man. But a much more incisive England and with the exception of Rooney very entertaining. Well done Italy :-)

What do you think we can expect from France? They recently beat the hell out of Norway (4-0) and poor Jamaica (8-0). Friendlies are different, of course, but I still believe they can do well this year.

I thought England were rather unlucky. They are playing better now than they ever did under Capello. I hope people don't start criticising Leighton Baines, he had been the best English left back for the past couple of seasons.

I was a bit disappointed by England-Italy. I expected a bit more fireworks. The goals were nice, though. And yes, both teams were trying to win, that was good too.

Difficult to know which 'France' will turn up: the 'down tools' militant in-fighting version or the prodigiously gifted Gallic flair version that has thrilled and entertained us in the past? I think it significant that Deschamps has carefully weeded out the agent provocateurs from previous squads e.g. Ribery, Nasri, Anelka, Toulalan and Abidal (although Ribery is conveniently injured and three of the remainder have 'unofficially retired' from international football) They seem a much happier camp under Deschamps but let's not forget he still has to contend with the divisive dressing room poisoner Patrice Evra (decent player but a truculent w*nker nonpareil) Their friendly results have been good albeit against modest opposition and it should be remembered they needed to overturn a 2 goal deficit in a two legged play off with Ukraine to stumble into the finals. All said, I've got a feeling the French players are sufficiently united to treat this tournament as their stab at redemption in the eyes of a distrusting and cynical French public. So, expect them to do well (maybe even semi finals?)

I don't blame Leighton Baines at all, his left sided midfield support (Rooney) was missing all first half and was switched to the right in the second to try & fix the problem. Baines was up against 2:1 all game. Why the hell we didn't assign one player to man mark Pirlo is beyond me.
There were some good signs for England, it wasn't a disaster, I thought a draw would have been fair but Rooney missed a clear chance.
I have no idea why the game was played in Manaus in the middle of the jungle, clearly both teams compensated by slowing the game down and were still exhausted at the end. I thought they both played well given the conditions. I'm 'hopeful' for England's speed players in better conditions.
I doubt France will go very far in this tournament, they aren't very good.I'm looking forward to seeing how Argentina play.

I hope that the 'rumble in the Jungle' hasn't taken too much out of the England players. It would be a sheme if we go out just because of conditions.
As others have said about Baines it wasn't a problem caused by him. And those on the net saying we should have taken Cashley Hole with us are deluded if they think that would have made a difference. I think perhaps We should have shut that side down with Milner and taking Rooney off.
The good is that Uruguay looked slower than us and hopefully, Suarez will not get straight back in the saddle if they bring him on (which they will if there is any possibility -risky). However, Costa Rica look better than expected.

Heart stopping World Cup , Swiss win in the very last second , after Ecuador almost scored. Teams are NOT playing for any draw. Its DO or DIE . Epic battles, true grit and amazing skills. Breathless delight.

The French are either very good or very bad . When great, they were spellbinding. But when they decide to be idiots (which is often) , they flaunt the edges of insanity. Like you said, which team will show up?

10 games, no draws and averaging more than 3 goals a game, it's been great so far

Best World Cup i've seen with all the goals and exciting play. And credit the ref for letting that play go on where the Swiss go all the way down to score. I mean I haven't seen much what you'd call end to end action like I have in this World Cup. Yes it sucks that i'm layed off until the second week of July but the timing was perfect.

Best decision by a referee so far was that 'play on' for Switzerland.
