Where are you from anyway? Disguised in your "chicano" pride might be a sense of superiority because you choose your culture and your heritage to represent all of us who come from south of the border.

I know that but if you are living in the US you are living the Chicano experience. Meaning you might be a brown in the US and a whitey from whereever you come from be it Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala. Just because you are not Mexican does not make you any better than anyone who is

Clearly you are using the Chicano term incorrectly and you are offending The T by doing it. It would probably be best to do as he asks and use another term.
I know what the term stands for and I know if I am using it incorrectly
OK I won't use the term for him(even though I believe he is committing a denial of something). Honestly, I don't see why he would be offended by it
Denial of what?! That I am a Mexican? Of course I am not! I am a mix of Spaniards and native indigenous Americans from the Andean region.

Where the f**k have I said I am better than anybody?

You are obviously ignorant of how racists Americans call every single hispanic person, "spic", or others use "Mexican", not because being a Mexican is an insult, but because calling everybody who speaks Spanish Mexican is saying "you are all the same". If that can't get through your thick head I have no hope of having any more discussion with you.

I know what the term stands for and I know if I am using it incorrectly

OK I won't use the term for him(even though I believe he is committing a denial of something). Honestly, I don't see why he would be offended by it. Me ignorant of the word "Spic" you are freaking NUTTTSS!!my friend. I know not everyone who speaks Spanish is Mexican. All I am saying is that the term Chicano can be applied to anyone who is of Spanish/Indigenous ancestry and who is born in the US, that's all!!

Denial of Indigenous ancestry, bro. By calling yourself Hispanic you deny it. Look at yourself in the mirror before you say anything else. But, hell if you want to call yourself Hispanic that's fine with me

Who are you to tell me what I am supposed to think? You don't even know who I am or what I look like. You are doing your blanket statements again. I'm not denying that I have indigenous blood and I am proud of it but of mine, not of yours. That's why many people in South America think Mexicans think themselves superior, because they think they can represent an entire f**king continent.

And yes I also have f**king hispanic blood and I speak Spanish and have lots of heritage from their culture too. Go give your third-rate racial-resentment moral advise to somebody else. I'm happy being MESTIZO, which means MIXED.

Literally every definition of "chicano" I've read specifically mentions Mexico, so you should probably just stop applying it to anybody but yourself since you are obviously wrong

I come from California. I do not have a sense of superiority I have a sense of self and self-esteem. I never said you were Mexican all I said is that you are living the Chicano experience if you live in the US. My mission out there (as well other people) is to get rid of all that negativity but you spewing out curse words and having negative feelings towards others does not help

P.S that's freaking awesome that you are a Mestizo. So am I

Why do you have to curse like that it seems as if you have something wrong with you

I grew up in La Mission in SF and was lucky enough to sample Latino culture regularly, as well as Asian, Central European, Russian and Pan-African.   No one really cared what you were, and any normal urban dangers mostly occurred in a non-racial way, which is to say trouble was colorblind.

^That's the best possible way to grow up, color-blind, and also blanket-term-mute, if I might say it this way.

When you're so close to another region/Continent, the quality of its best food, music, etc. is usually first rate

Absolutely true.

Like here in FL instead of Mexican there is a strong Caribbean and especially Cuban undercurrent and tons of their food, which in the case of rice and beans I can't get tired from

I was just thinking about how much Cuban you get there-- absolutely love the music.  I'm always stunned when I think how Cuban exports including music were (are?) banned here.   It's utterly stupid.

I literally would want to distance myself from any existing culture.

I don't have a culture. I don't believe in representing your heritage or any of that stuff.

Why would anyone care about their heritage? I'd rather push into territory in which I am not familiar.

The embargo in general is the most stupid measure by any government ever.

Something I just thought of seeing my World Cup sticker album , and I don't want to rekindle the thankfully-ended discussion: there is also African heritage in South America and central America, not much in Mexico, but a lot in other countries (including Cuba). So even then not all people from south of the border have the same origin.

You don't have a culture. That's insane. Culture is essential to human life
