I hope two definitions are enough. Just google Chicano and you'll finds dozens.
It's like me seeing a Canadian, an English man, an Australian, and an American, and saying "oh you are all yankees aren't you?"

Usage Note: Chicano is used only of Mexican Americans, not of Mexicans living in Mexico. It was originally an informal term in English (as in Spanish), and the spelling of the first recorded instance in an American publication followed the Spanish custom of lowercasing nouns of national or ethnic origin. However, the literary and political movements of the 1960s and 1970s among Mexican Americans established Chicano as a term of ethnic pride, and it is properly written today with a capital. · While Chicano is a term of pride for many Mexican Americans, it remains a word with strong political associations. Since these politics are not necessarily espoused by all Mexican Americans, and since usage and acceptance of this word can vary from one region to another, an outsider who is unfamiliar with his or her audience may do well to use Mexican American instead. See Usage Note at Hispanic. |
What do you mean, no? Think what you want to think but I am just suggesting that you should think outside the box but you know what it is all up to you as to what you want to call yourself. It's just to me calling yourself Hispanic is a denial of Indigenous ancestry

Latin American works well. So does hispanic-American. Or Ibero-American (descendants and conquered by the Iberian peninsula. This includes Brazil).
Hell, not even all Mexicans are chicano. Only those Mexican-Americans.

Well I am proud of both any indigenous and any Spain ancestry I have. I don't have that problem.

And even if I wasn't proud of Spain and wanted to be only proud of my indigenous ancestry, I would still be NO DESCENDANT OF AZTECS. There were indigenous tribes in South America that have NO RELATION TO THOSE IN MEXICO.

O shouldn't say "tribes". There were nations, a whole Empire in South America. The Incas, the Tahuantinsuyo.

I have of course some indigenous ancestry in me from my mother's side. But again, even that is different than the indigenous ancestry of what we call Mexico today.
The whole point and sorry if I appear obsessed, it's that I consider it bordering on racist calling all hispanics (or whatever you want to call them) "Mexicans" or "chicano". That's what racists do. It's like calling all Asian people "chinese". Some are, but not all.

It's not racist, that's completely the opposite of what I intended to do. The term is used an empowering term for empowering yourself and having a love for your ancestry regardless of where they came from. You what is racist denying past bloodlines and its seems to me that you are adamant on being called Hispanic. You can be Nogbad and still be a Chicano

Call me other thing if you want. Just don't call me Chicano or Mexican because I am not Mexican. And everybody who comes from other countries in Central and South America that are not Mexico are NOT Mexicans.

I know that but if you are living in the US you are living the Chicano experience. Meaning you might be a brown in the US and a whitey from wherever you come from be it Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala. Just because you are not Mexican does not make you any better than anyone who is

Clearly you are using the Chicano term incorrectly and you are offending The T by doing it. It would probably be best to do as he asks and use another term.

Where the f**k have I said I am better than anybody?
You are obviously ignorant of how racists Americans call every single hispanic person, "spic", or others use "Mexican", not because being a Mexican is an insult, but because calling everybody who speaks Spanish Mexican is saying "you are all the same". If that can't get through your thick head I have no hope of having any more discussion with you.

I know what the term stands for and I know if I am using it incorrectly
OK I won't use the term for him(even though I believe he is committing a denial of something). Honestly, I don't see why he would be offended by it. Me ignorant of the word "Spic" you are freaking NUTTTSS!!my friend. I know not everyone who speaks Spanish is Mexican. All I am saying is that the term Chicano can be applied to anyone who is of Spanish/Indigenous ancestry and who is born in the US, that's all!!
