Nick Magnus quest for the eletronic scary Martenot

I met Nick Magnus many years ago in Switzerland whilst I was a member of a Swiss progressive rock band Flame Dream;and Nick was on a Swiss tour with British guitarist Steve Hackett of the band Genesis.

Here is my dear old missed,longtime clever talented keyboardist British buddy Nick Magnus recently doing a little adventure at the MIM museum in Brussels in Europe,on a search for the spooky,scary and horror eerie sounds of the haunted movies of the 50's and 60's called the Ondes Martenot keyboard. Jonny had it custom made, because he's rich enough. He was inspired to got one by Olivier Messiaen's use of it in the Turangalila Symphonie.

Also, most 50s, 60s horror/sci-fi movies used a theremin. Ondes Martenot is similar in some ways but not the same (it has a lot more capabilities and is much easier to control).

No kidding. They did have to write Creep first, though.

You might be thinking of Paul Anka who covered it. There is actually a very similar motown song from the 60s though.

Whoops. Paul Anka covered Smells Like the Teen Spirit. Nevermind. (pun intended)

Maybe it was Richard Cheese? Thom Yorke wrote the song. Of that much I'm sure. There was also controversy with the producers who thought it was a Scott Walker cover because the band introduced it as "our Scott Walker song."
