Denmark is currently overflowing with micro breweries and alleged beer experts (who all seem horribly close to the kind of connoisseurs you come across in the wino world "Quel terroir n'est pas?!?!!"

I do enjoy quite a few of these obscure beers, but when they suddenly are priced like were they filled with small diamonds, then my interest quickly wanes. Come on!! It's beer! Sure, we should strive for real beer with balls and 1000s of years of tradition....but when they start charging 100s of kroners for a regular pilsener, I'm out.

One of my favourite of the larger breweries in Denmark is called Hancock. Their 'Høker Bajer' (Merchant brewski) is a wonderful beer, and most places I've seen them sold, they're about a 10er each - hell sometimes they're even cheaper

Hancock's finest achievement though is their Christmas beer. My oh my!

My sis is like that too. Everything has to be symmetrical, and if I, strictly by coincidence, nudge one of her paintings out of alignment, she goes absolutely mental 

Anyway, back to the brewskis!!! I've never had a Herforder before Uwe. They look good though, but your country does have a knack for making excellent beers - Beck's and Warsteiner not included. I've got a lot of great memories from drinking Beck's at the Roskilde Festival and singing 'Skåne tilbage - Skåne tilbaaaaaaage!!! Vi vil ha' Skåååne tilbage!' from a shopping cart. Vi vil ha' Skåne tilbage means 'We want Scania back' - small joke on the Swedish guests, as Scania indeed was part of the Danish empire back before anyone was born. The Swedes there all thought it was pretty funny though, and I even had one guy up in the cart with me singing along. It wasn't down to the fantastic qualities of Beck's though....
