Topic: Pendragon announce new drummer Posted: April 22 2014 at 13:54 |
we can now announce the new Pendragon drummer and his name is Craig Blundell. We are absolutely delighted to announce Craig as the new sticksman, he is an astonishing player and genuinely lovely guy. We start recording drums with him for the new album on Friday. Craig is respected globally as one of the leading educators, clinicians, motivators and innovators of his instrument and a true ambassador for British drumming. He is a face for Premier, Roland and Paiste internationally and over the years has played with many legends of music from many different genres. In more recent times he's been working on many Progressive projects from Frost* to playing on albums alongside members of King Crimson Porcupine Tree, Van Der Graaf Generator and many more. He also writes music for TV and film that is aired in over 30 countries including a substantial amount of the drums for the BBC. Millions of people every day hear Craig's work all over the world and we warmly welcome him into the Pendragon family. I missed this, and only saw it today.
No problems with Craig at all, but I, for one, will miss Higham. I thought he brought a huge amount to the Pendragon scene. Why did he leave?

From the Pendie website April 17th "Regrettably we have to announce that Pendragon have parted ways with drummer Scott Higham for personal reasons. We have had a great 6 years with Scott and he has brought much to the band, we wish him well for the future."
Craig is a great player, all the drums have now been completed and we're all very happy with the result, I'm sure you all will be too! ;-) W x |

I agree with Laz, Scott brought a great deal to Pendragon and will be missed, here's hoping Craig can match up to that, certainly quite the resume he brings with him.

If he is the guy on the Frost* - Rockfield Sessions CD/DVD then they have done extremely well getting him.

Have there now been more drummers in Pendragon than keyboardists?

No...... definitely more drummers! (we've had Noly for nearly 30 years!) Yes, he's the guy that plays with Frost*........and a whole heap of people have had him play sessions for them - VDGG, KC, Rainbow......... he has credentials and I think you'll all approve once you've heard him!

Wilcey - it Would be great if Nick can replicate the standard of the last half-a-dozen albums. I know you can give an impartial view of the current album :). Can we Pendragon fans get excited about the new one? Is there anything yet that can touch This green and pleasant land.
Will miss Scott - he brought plenty of charisma. But good luck to Craig!

It's still at the point where I've only heard it fragmented, there are no lyrics yet (he's working on those at the moment) but I've heard some spine chilling, heart wrenching and gob smacking guitar solos and also some rather eye-widening keyboard parts........ does that help?
I've got a feeling it's going to be a stunner W x
