It was very nice. Maple was only subtle, didn't overwhelm at all. I love every single DDC beer I've had so I might be biased, they are my 2nd favourite brewery after Mikkeller.
90% of the time I'm drinking at a local place called Cha Island, it's got a nice tropical/surf decor & only two staff both of whom are super cool. They do sandwiches, waffles, their own tea blends, and have a great selection of beer that is always changing. I've posted a couple pictures from there before like this one and this one Edited by Triceratopsoil - April 19 2014 at 17:53 |

Wow, that's really cool to have a nice place nearby that serves interesting beers along with good food. We have some pretty uninspiring places nearby, but I can find decent beer selections if I drive a bit. Usually though I just save the cash and buy good beer for home.
As we switch to warmer weather I'm going to be looking for some lighter beer. Anyone have a suggestion for a lighter beer (with not too much carbonation) that still has worthwhile flavor? I want to try some lighter beer but not crappy mega brewery beer. |

Of those listed, the Chimay by a large margin. Normally, i'm an (I)IPA drinker. I live in Portland, OR. 'Nuff said.

Nice IPA, guys. Citrus-ey, not too bitter, medium carbonation, easy down.

You are looking for some lighter beers eh Jim? Have you tried Mikkelers pilsners? I think they're called radio one and Vesterbro. They are really damn good in the summertime

Yeah I'm def trying to switch to lighter fare for a while. Had my fill of 12% "barleywine" ales until next winter....holy cow that was rich beer.
I have not tried Mikks David but I'll keep on the lookout. My store has a pretty decent selection. |

I know what you mean. Some of those brewskis are ruthless! I remember the first beer tasting festival i attended. My friends and I paid for 10 tokens that we could use for different booths. We were very thirsty though, so we jumped on the first bar available and ordered the largest picher of what they were serving. Turns out it was this insane Hungarian fusion of honey and dark caramel like hops. Tasted fantastic especially served up with cracker and strong blue cheese. Halfway through beer and cheese we look at each other and feel a little woozy. I look at the label, and it says 24% alcohol
![]() The last thing I remember from that night is wrapping my jacket over my head in a bedouin like manner - chasing after my mates while screaming 'NI!'. Fun times. Edited by Guldbamsen - April 26 2014 at 18:47 |

Btw Jim, a cheap fix for a fresh and light beer is taking a slice of lime and stuffing it down a Spanish cervesa like Sol;) This is mainly what I drink if it's too hot for anything.

Ah those little tinkers at Brewdog, eh?
Brewers of everything from 'Nannystate' at 0.5% to 'Sink The Bismark' at 41%; absolute proof that just because you can do something, doesn't necessarily mean you should. ![]() Their 'Punk IPA' is a stunner, though ![]() |
