So do you which issue of the A Trick of the Tail, Foxtrot, and Selling England By The Pound did you buy? I own two issues of each: the Definitive Remasters and the 2007 remixes from Nick Davis.

I have not heard Jordan Rudess' version of Dance On A Volcano, but I'll be honest with you, I don't like Dream Theater nor do I like Rudess. A fine technician on the keyboard, but little else IMHO.

Are you a new progressive rock fan in general? My origin with prog rock goes back to the late 80s. I've heard a lot of music since that time, but Genesis, Pink Floyd, and Yes are the ones I continue to come back to time and time again.

I started prog with the likes of Dream Theater in the early 90's (probably 1994) and Pink Floyd around the same year- I grew interest in Rush around 1998 or so- and the following years I branched out to bands like Yes, Jethro, and many other genres of Prog- mainly progressive metal however. I find myself now listening to more symphonic prog- like The Flower Kings and similar bands.

My favorite prog artists- probably in this order:

1. Devin Townsend
2. Rush
3. Flower Kings

Don't worry once you sink your teeth into Genesis and Yes, you'll soon forget about The Flower Kings, Rush, and Devin Townsend. Wink

I would also suggest checking out King Crimson and ELP at some point. You may also enjoy Gentle Giant, but I've grown a distaste for them as of late for some odd reason. I used to hold them in higher regard than I do now.

I could never get into progressive metal. I've heard plenty of Dream Theater, Symphony X, Mastermind, Fates Warning, etc. to determine that the style isn't for me. Trust me, there's a lot of people who claim to not like prog metal who have probably never heard a note of it. These people are the ones that do the most damage to prog music in general IMHO.
