Basing your entire image on early Voivod as blatantly as these gentlemen have done is trying to fill some pretty damn big shoes. It's an aesthetic I quite like, though, so I hope the music contained within has as much substance to it.

At first it's weird to hear this kind of stylistically primitive black metal performed in such an ultra-technical manner with clean production and going into all kinds of intricate psychedelic tangents, but it's in a way appropriate for the entire "sophisticated yet decadent ancient civilization" atmosphere the record's aiming for. (it's Absu's Abzu by the way)

An oldie but goodie. For some reason ADII's take on psychedelia strikes me as distinctly earthy rather than spacy - makes me think of fluorescent underground stalactite caves, ever-stretching out Central Asian steppes at burning pink twilight and mountain ranges lit up by aurora borealis instead of outer space.
