A man won almost 108 million pounds on the lottery the other day.  If you won that much money, what would you do with it all?  Be as detailed as you like, because short answers will probably only cover the first ten million or so.

I would pay most of it to the government in the form of taxes.

But... with what was left after that, I'd probably form a corporation to put the money into so the vultures couldn't get at it, and no one could make frivolous personal claims against my property just because they know I have a lot of dough.  In other words, I would disown it as quickly as I could, in such a way that it would still be legally mine, but would be protected against people who make a living preying on people like me.

To be honest, I'd probably go a bit stupid and be dead within a year..

My needs are modest and my tastes basic. I don't have a family so I don't need more than two bedrooms; one for myself, one for all my crap. I'm a weak swimmer so I don't need a pool. I'm getting on a bit now so I don't rally need a gym or a tennis court. I'm scared of horses so I don't need stables....etc etc..

To be honest after paying off all my friends mortgages and debts, I'd probably just put aside enough to live on for the next 20 years or so, then give the rest to a variety of charities. I've no actual need for that amount of money. A couple of million may be good, I guess, but £100m is a surreal amount of money for which I have no actual practical use.

I would buy Prog Archives from MAX and add all my favourite absolutely non prog related bands next to his in Prog Related. Would pay off my sister and Mum and Dad's mortgages, buy my own house and car. Get a dog and cat. Buy a state of the art PC and all the music software I've ever dreamed of owning (and probably end up writing squat music)
Would travel the world for a couple of years visiting every famous football ground I could think of. Might invest in a tiny little local footie club and nurture them into a world giant. Oh yes, and squander the rest on booze, drugs, fast women and other worthy causes

f**king laughed my ass off

for me I'd probably get a crazy set of speakers, an awesome turntable and cd player, and build myself a recording studio with the best gear possible. The rest I'd invest either in charity or save for my children's tuition.

EDIT: possible future children that is

To quote somebody, I would spend about £50 million on loose women, drink and gambling. The rest of it I would just waste.

£108 million ($180 million) is more than I could ever reasonably hope to use.  As HolyMoly said, the government will take their cut, and then I'd give the rest of it away.  Say after taxes I'm left with $90 million, I might keep 10% of it.

I'd upgrade my baseball season tickets from the bleachers to the luxury suites.  I'd probably take a year off to tour all of the Major League ballparks since that has been long-term on my bucket list.  I might actually learn to play an instrument.  I think that I would like to be a benefactor to the Arts though.  There are certainly plenty of bands in England/Europe that I would like to see get a chance to play the USA so that would be a worthy cause in my books.  And lastly, I would become a reality TV star with no talent or natural ability but that everyone will want to tune in and watch every week just because I am rich.  I think that there might be a market for that.

Buy my local village pub, and allow the landlady to continue trading rent free, this to guarantee that at least I have somewhere to go for a drinkie in perpetua (lots of pubs are closing each week in the UK, and it is getting more difficult to make a living, especially in small villages such as mine).

The rest? Family, charity, the usual.

Huh?  Who would be selling an asteroid...

Ermm

Never mind.  I'm selling the asteroid.  You'll love it.  I'll knock 30% off the retail price, too, just because you're a progarchives member.
