Ok mates.....I opened up the wallet for the good stuff.....and it did not disappoint one bit. Gorgeous amber color, lighter body with lots of fruity/spicy notes, and strong. I'm just finishing my first and already feel warmed up. No hesitation recommending this one despite the price tag, esp if you like the Belgian ales....

Well.....I don't overindulge much anymore, being of a ripe age now...but I polished off the 4-pack of the Monk and my arse is feelin' pretty groovy These are pretty strong beers. I read some reviews and some guys who are hard core Belgian ale guys weren't all that enthused with it, but I thought it held up well over all 4 bottles. Never got annoying or filling. Each one started cold of course, but I noticed subtle flavor changes as the beer warmed in the glass, from crisp and fruity at the start to ending up kinda clove/raisin at the end. Nice carbonation...plenty of life but not a fizzzz fest. I'd buy it again...though caveat emptor...there were reviews from guys who said they def would not.

You could have the best beer in the world and somebody would still claim it was no good... I wouldn't hold much thought to it.

Just cracked a Dragon's Milk, my go-to for the fastest relief from the stress of the week. Potent.

I rarely drink bottled beer, though some is excellent.
I prefer draught from a handpump - less fizzy.
Just got in from the real ale night at the CAMRA/Liberal Democrat conference in York (member of both) - drank Loch Ness (Loch Ness), Castle Rock (Harvest Pale Ale), Roosters (Liberator) and Imperial (Snow Joke). All absolutely superb - credit to the bar staff at the Rook & Gaskill in York for such fabulous beer. Off to bed - rather pissed.
