Shame the games were so poor today. Finland and USA both laid major eggs after playing so well all tournament. Canada's going to roll the undeserving Swedish team on Sunday.

In fairness to the ladies, the penalty call that took away their golden power play chance early in OT was probably the worst call I've ever seen. I've never seen anyone, ever, get called for a slash because they tapped the goalie a split second after the goalie absorbed the puck. If that was a slash then it's a penalty that's committed in every game every single time a goalie catches a puck. I didn't get to see much of the game but was told Canada was getting away with murder in the 3rd period while the refs just watched. This would be in fitting with what I've seen in the men's tournament. Would've thought that in Russia there'd be a pro-Russia bias but it appears everything going Canada's way. We'll see what happens tomorrow but if there's a questionable call or blatant no-call late then I'm calling foul on the whole affair.

The worst call ever was Brett Hull in the crease against Buffalo a few years back, giving the Cup to Dallas ! But , just like in any sport, i.e boxing, the Brit ref told both benches BEFORE the game started that any slash , even a tap on a goalie holding the puck, will be penalized, These instructions come from the IIHF. Both teams were warned and the ref had no choice ....Remember the line brawl earlier in the year? The two teams do not like each other at all. The Yank girls did not choke , they just got poop tired at the end, which explains how Poulin scored the winner in OT. Yes, OT!

There is no pro-Canada bias , as the men's game proved succinctly today. (BTW, the guys DO not hate each other LOL). Come on, we are neighbors and it/we will always be close......Wink

Indeed Thomas!  We are friends USA and Canada.....if we lose, I'm happy to see Canada beat out the others....

You will enjoy this video Thomas, we welcomed some of the boys down across the border to watch the game....they had a good time on "enemy" turf.  Big smile

Awesome stuff, that ! Being proud to be American is ingrained since the Declaration of Independence. Most Canadians are fully aware of American history. Yet Canadians are very unknown to most of the USA because we have been humble, quiet and intimidated by our cold weather into being VERY unpatriotic. Its a recent thing, winning Olympic medals and sending down our best athletes (Steve Nash, Ferguson Jenkins, Bobby Orr, Gordie Howe, Justin Morneau, Joey Votto etc...) . Pride in Canada is a very new adventure........Which is why we are so darn happy right now.Headbanger

Quote= ''They were definitely in a 1-4 formation there on the ice when they were up 2-0, sitting back,” Wickenheiser said Friday. “Once we got the goal, we felt they deflated quite a bit. And that if we pushed back, they would definitely be susceptible to another goal. it’s the pressure.

“It happens. It’s happened to us numerous times. It’s hard to maintain a two-goal lead. It’s the worst thing in hockey.”

I can't help but think that Finland may have beat Sweden in men's hockey if Rask wasn't sick, it was such a close game. I felt bad for Kane who missed two penalty shots and was in the box for one Finland goal. I do not feel sorry for Brian Burke though.LOL

Saw that coming. Should've been Canada vs. Finland. Might have been a game, at least. Never thought too much of Lundqvist because for his entire career I've watch the Penguins score on him so it's fitting that both Sid and Kuni got one today.

Also, didn't respond to this earlier because it wasn't really Olympics related but, that wasn't bad call. That was ignoring an insanely terrible rule. They would've been robbing Dallas had that goal not stood. Hull was in no way interfering with the goalie and, frankly, despite being in the paint, wasn't even anywhere near Hasek. That was one of the most pointless rules the league ever had and thankfully it didn't last long. Now, if only the NHL could get back to the way they called games right after the lockout.

CANADA on top of the hockey world! Sax man

The lowdown on Carey Price = when he is on, he is on! Probably the most 'in the zone' goalie ever! You have to rattle him early and he can be human but if he starts stoning attackers , you get 2 Olympic shutouts in a row ! Result = GOLD!
