The Fiery Furnaces - EP

Don't know why they named it that, it's not an EP.

Lengthwise, it's certainly longer.  It's more like a compilation of non-album singles and leftovers.

But they never really did anything by the book anyway.  I wonder if they plan to put any more albums out, it's been about 5 years since the last one.  Eleanor's been doing pretty well as a solo act, and Matt's been putting out a whole bunch avant garde-oriented works by himself.  I hope they reconvene to do another "whoa!" album, and I don't mean with their grandmother again.

This is a good album.  It was funny because it was one that I didn't realize I had.  As I was getting into prog about 10 years ago or so, I was really into everything that was released on the InsideOut label.  I want to say that I got into Threshold with the Subsurface album and went ahead and purchased Psychedelicatessan, Extinct Instinct, Hypothetical, and Critical Mass all at about the same time.  I think that they may have been some of my first ever music download purchases on eMusic, but my account doesn't show them, so maybe I am mis-remembering.  At any rate, after I purchased these other CDs, I burned them to CD-Rs, and went to put them with the rest of my collection, and to my surprise there was the Wounded Land album.  I had found it used a number of years previous to that and had completely forgot about until this time.  Anyhow, probably only funny to me, but I still chuckle about it.

Anyhow, now the next one:

^^ I remember seeing them live, when they had just released the Clone album... and they played quite a few tracks off their debut, so they must have a soft spot for it themselves... anyway, I see you will be working your way through their discography in chron order over the weekend? You could do a whole lot worse...
