CAR SEAT HEADREST - "Monomania" (2012)
One-man home recording project by some young dude on Bandcamp. Very personal, intense lo-fi epics revealing a quite developed songwriting skill. A huge well of talent waiting to be discovered. |

Beautiful album. Instrumental disc is wonderful as well. I was very pleased with Olsen's vocals, even though she had some massive shoes to fill taking over Tarja's position as the incredible, operatic lead vocalist. Loved The Poet and The Pendulum. A 13min masterpiece. Olsen nails it on that one. :) |

My favourite APP album... great! I always had a real soft spot for 'Try Anything Once' when he reformed as AP.... I remember buying it in 1993 when it came out, and playing it all summer... |

Yes, the opener is without doubt a fabulous track and the strongest on the album, which is good, but not perfect. Andy (Sleeper) and I saw them in Birmingham on that tour in 2007, when Troy Donockly (Iona) made a guest appearance with his pipes... I believe he is now a permanent band member, which should give any forthcoming album an interesting new dimension.. |

I think what separates Turn Of A Friendly Card from previous APP albums is that this particular album is more rich in melody and a lot of the electronic effects Parsons uses is toned down like say in, I Robot. Turn Of A Friendly Card is no doubt a very special album. APP in general have definitely had their hooks in me for many years now. Important band. :) |

I don't know if you liked it, but this is hardly progressive in Orphaned Land's standards. It's a very big change from everything preceding it. It's like listening to 90125 and thinking you've heard Yes. I advise going for "The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR" if you're still interested (also on spotify). |

^^ Nick, I agree with those sentiments; I also MUST check out the new FW album at some stage, if it's as good as you say!

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Well lucky you and mr. Sleeper. Nice experience. I'm a big Donockly fan. His Uliean Pipes sound unique and I believe he should be a permenent Nightwish addition as well. Also, Donockly's pipes sound great, as he is a featured guest, on the new Ayreon album 'Theory Of Everything.' Terrific album by the way. Gives The Human Equation a serious run for their money, but Eric Clayton as the voice of Reason on that album still steals the show for me off that album. Amazing that Arjien found him to work with cause my beloved SAVIOUR MACHINE is not very well known at all, especially here on PA. |

It's a great performance. I've also almost finished my review on it. I'm extremely happy with the album. |
