I'm not happy about (possibly) losing McDaniel.

Maybe he chose to do it himself understand the situation, regardless he was more or less forced out. Still the Giants handled it gracefully as they always do, it was a delicate situation (see below)
And hey, I appreciate the effort, he was a dedicated Giant. That said, I am glad this happened.
It may be a bit weird, he's been Eli's only OC, as well as Coughlin's. All were pretty tight, but hey...I know they will welcome his replacement. Just hope he injects some creativity into this team. More no huddle would be great.
Except for 2011 can't say his offenses have been much to write home about. And in '11 I really feel they won in <i style="font-weight: bold;">spite of him. Was wondering how the hell Eli held up under the torrents of pressure his line gave up waiting for the deep pass game to work, and how he converted the constant third and longs...as we have since seen, was more of a miracle season than anything else.

Small amount of scuttlebutt says they may possibly target Mike (I think) Sullivan...their former QB coach that went to the Bucs two years ago. I think he was fired in the recent TB exodus. Wouldn't be a terrible choice IMO...but I am interested to see who they choose.

Now that Schwartz is gone and Lovie is already off of the table, I kind of like either Ken Whisenhunt or Jim Caldwell as possible candidates to take over in Detroit.  Jim Schwartz built the team (so I thank him for that), but he couldn't coach them at all and his ego was worse than a lot of the players.  Get some discipline in that locker room (and maybe someone to work with Stafford to get his ass under control), and they'll be playoff contenders.

^ Agree. Lovie probably would have been a good choice, he seems like a good discipline guy, but I do think you need a "quarterback guru" first and foremost. (Not that you can't have both of course, but that certainly isn't Lovie.)

Ok, a lone Brit will have a go at this, but I'll just predict this weekend for starters......

49ers to beat my beloved Packers (The Packers defense is abysmal but if it's a shootout they have a chance with Rodgers back.)
Eagles to beat Saints (The Eagles look pretty impressive to me.)
Chiefs to beat Colts (I find this really tough to call, I like the Colts but I'll just go with the Chiefs at home.)
Bengals to blow out the Chargers (The Bengals are pretty awesome at home, if they had homefield all the way they'd get to the SB in my opinion.)

As a head coach, probably not.

You know the Bengals are 8-0 at home, their last 5 home scores have been 34, 42, 42, 41 & 49 and they've already beaten San Diego in San Diego? While San Diego just squeaked by the Chiefs B team at home in a game they should have lost?

Not only that, but Dalton wasn't even in top form against the Chargers when we played them. He had an average game with a great finish.

One nice stat about the Bengals this season, they are 4-0 against playoff teams (Patriots, Colts, Chargers, and Packers w/ a healthy Rodgers). That's a stat that shouldn't be sneezed at.

OK prediction time:

Eagles:   N'arlins is better, but they are a whole diff team on the road. Foles really has impressed me. Though this i the shakiest game
49ers: I don't think they pack the same punch as recent years, but still solid and I'll be bold and say Kaep has a bit of a resurgence. If not, Rodgers and co can easily win this game.
Chiefs: eh call it revenge, and I dont like this Colts team minus Wayne and I think some defensive players are also hurt.
Bengals should be the easiest pick. SDG is kind of a joke even if Rivers is having a monster year. Even if we get bad Andy I expect a win. Unless it's REALLY bad Andy...

Guess I will toss my hat in the ring of predictions...

Saints over Eagles, I think Brees has something to prove on the road regardless of their recent road record, the D is much improved also.
49ers over Packers, niners are big and built to handle the cold with a ground game if needed.  Rodgers is the wild card though, you never know.
Chiefs over Colts, this one may depend on which Colt team shows up.  They have looked awesome, but I think they are too banged up to advance although still a toss up in my mind for some reason.
Bengals over Chargers, this one bothers me as everyone seems to be picking them, but the Bengals have been great at home.

Let the games begin....

^Yeah they were two good reads.

With the recent injury news, I think I have to lean Colts this weekend. Some really unfortunate injuries keeping key players off the field for a few teams.

Hali and Houston are key. 2 of the best 3 pass rushers in the NFL! If both are full health that's a beast pass rush and the Colts line has been pretty poor.

Colts are down Wayne but Chiefs just lost Charles, huge blow. Makes the game pretty even.

That first half was anything but even, but hey, there's more football to be played.

This game seemed bleh and not really of interest to me anyway, so I stopped watching halfway in the first quarter.
I missed something!
Caught the start of the 4th to see it 41-31!

4 Alex Smith TDs, 3 Luck picks
This is why playoffs are great!

A bit unfair....while we all say "injuries are part of the game and you gotta deal" and that's true, KC has gotten destroyed. #3 RB, 2 corners down so there's a safety playing at corner, Avery out. That is brutal.

There's still Dwayne Bowe though! What a crazy game

What a crazy game indeed. Hard to say who had the better game between QB's Luck did throw 3 picks, but Smith had that huge Intentional Grounding mistake.
