Count me in on that Jim
Creepiest duck dish I've ever seen. Sure would be nice to get a vinyl copy of Melos rrrrauw, but I already have it on cd. Maybe when I get rich

Thanks Jim! That was an interesting interview.
Imagine showing up for a big music festival with sub-par equipment and the drummer of Banco letting a young punk use his drums for their set. Then to have the well established bands take notice of them playing, you know those lads had to be feeling their oats that day!
Pierre, that duck appears to be smiling..... What in the world is that stuff underneath the head...maybe I don't want to know.

The problem with RPI is not where to start, but when to stop.
The answer is : never.

Ok RPI denizens. I know I'm a little late in this, but I just have to express my sincerest enthusiasm and total bowdown respect for the album LA CRUDELTÀ DI APRILE by UNREAL CITY.
I bought this album last night and I've played non stop since then. I can't believe the incredible modern power that UNREAL CITY have brought to the RPI genre. I really think this album is a very big deal and, for the most part, can totally understand why some of you here were freaking out when you heard it earlier this year (2013.) All I can say is that, I get it. I really do and I'm feeling like this album is an instant classic, and its a shame that the exposure is small right now for this album, but hey it's still early. Michael (Aussie-T-1000) I read your review (again) and I couldn't agree more on what you said about the band in general playing with such power and vigor like they've been around for at least 10 years! I mean. This is incredible! I just love it. Look at what UNREAL CITY do. They take classic instruments in Prog like the Mellotron, Hammond Organ and that crazy moog synth we all love and make these instruments sound as fresh and eclectic as, what I think, you possibly can. They also through in a Viola, Glockenspiel and what's sounds to me like a harpsichord for diversity. Also, I've always been a fan of the MOOG and I love how it is used on HORROR VACUI. Beautiful stuff guys. I'm making this album part of my elite top 10 for 2013. No question. I've gotta lot of love for this album right now and I think at some point I will have to review it to let PA and others just how I feel about this one. Five bowdowns my RPI brothers. |

^And the good news is, there's a whole big bunch of albums under the RPI moniker that will have this effect on you Nicholas....It's a long and fruitful journey of discoveries.

Maxophone will have a live CD (from Tokyo) out on January 14th.
It looks like they work on a new Studio Album also ("Guardian Angel") Gran Turismo Veloce started recording their second Album featuring Craig Blundell (Frost*) and Tony Levin (KC,Peter Gabriel) and an Orchestra from Hungary. Edited by TheH - December 15 2013 at 09:32 |

Great News (at least for me)
Distillerie di Malto will have their second album "Suono!" out this month! After about 5 years in the making I have great hope in this one. |

I'm not sure we're talking about the same live concert but earlier this year I remember Maxophone released an official bootleg, I'll be happy to get a different live album from them. And about DDM I'm waiting for that second album for years, I think one or two songs were already released a few years ago in a compilation called Spaghettis Et Tagliatelles, but Suono should be out soon I hope. |

Suono is already out, just released by Musea. I think the Maxophone offical bootleg was just made for the japanese audience and vanished pretty soon from the market. The new release by Aerostella I think is a newly mixed recording from the same concert. Edited by TheH - December 15 2013 at 12:39 |

Hi Lovers of Italian Prog!
My name is Marco, I come from Italy and I joined yesterday P.A. I live in Toscana, but my country of origin is Calabria in the southern of Italy. By this place, in a little town near the sea was born a marvelous group that has produced only one Porg Gems: Apoteosi - Apoteosi 1975 What do you think about this band?

Why hello JiM. Absolutely. Thank you for your kind advice. :) I plan to spend major $$$ sometime soon exploring the RPI genre very well. I'd love to get a more rounded collection, since my love and fascination for RPI is growing more and more. Lately, Goblin-PFM and now Unreal City have put me over the moon of just how wonderful and diverse this kind of music is. I will continue to plug away. Oh and FYI. This is neither here nor their but I really liked your review for Dream Theater's Systematic Chaos a few years back. Just liked what you had to say. Thanks. |

^ Why thank you Nicholas, that's very nice of you to say
It sounds like you are going to have a TON of fun checking out RPI. There is so much out there, pace yourself, and my biggest piece of advice would be to find some of the lesser known gems too. RPI has some very popular artists, but also there are some great bands that only about 10 people have heard of. |

Hello Marco and welcome! I just love the Apoteosi album, one of the albums I checked out many moons ago. I loved that it was a family affair, just some folks making an album who probably knew it was a one-off, but threw everything they had into the work. I can feel everything they tried to put through. Those kind of records are special to me, moreso than the well known bands. I will play it again soon and toast you! Did you know them Marco? |

Thank you guys for mentioning this album, haven't taken it off the shelf in a while. But I had no idea of the fascinating details behind the group. I just went and read their Archives bio, Chris (Seventhsojourn) did such a great job on it! Will give the CD a fresh spin shortly :) Glad to hear many of the other RPI freaks enjoying that Unreal City album too! Edited by Aussie-Byrd-Brother - December 16 2013 at 22:46 |
