^  The only possibility, I suppose, is to include the Cuneiform Records link for the band as the main source of info: http://www.cuneiformrecords.com/bandshtml/grits.html, or possibly even better - guitarist/violist Tom Wright's site: http://www.twtunes.com/ (where there is a headline linking to cdbaby's page for the 2008 'Rock and Roll Madness' release (which incidentally doesn't seem to have any cover artwork on the progarchives site at present...)

too much personal material/info on Wright's site, the Cuneiform's one refering only to ''Rare birds'' with no info at all.I would prefer to leave the field blank if you ask me.

^  Yeah, I understand your reasoning here. I guess if an artist doesn't actually have an official website, then we shouldn't try to substitute something else in it's place.  Embarrassed

^ Super stuff! Thumbs Up  Hopefully Scott will be along again shortly to update his list, which must be well down in the fifties by now. Smile  Regarding PTS, the debut album appears to have had the title entered as 'Nighlines' instead of 'Nightlines' - perhaps you could add the missing 't' while the subject is still fresh in our minds? Thanks again!

And now a little bit about Instant Flight.

Instant Flight are a London based multi-national (Italian-Czech-Brit) band whose music has evolved from the British Psychedelic movement of the 1960's. Whilst they had previously self-released an EP in 2001 which was highly acclaimed, "Colours and Lights" (2004) was their first full length offering, and on hearing the album it is immediately apparent that the band have captured not just the sound of the 60's but its spirit as well.

The band members involved were Marco Magnani (guitars and vocals), Lucie Rejchrtova (keyboards, accordion and backing vocals), Andrew Browning (bass), James Ovens (drums), and Charles Bennett (keyboards) as well as a guest appearance from the legendary Arthur Brown on their first full album, which is something of a coup for such a relatively unknown band. Instant Flight also play as 'The Crazy World of Arthur Brown' and actually support that legendary singer, who prefers to call upon Instant Flight rather than maintain his own electric band.

The initial line up consisted of Marco Magnani (from Bologna, Italy - who had been living in London for 12 years) on guitar and voice, Lucie Rejchrtova (from Czech Republic) on keyboards and accordion, Andrew Browning on bass, and James Ovens on drums (both based in London). Before Instant Flight got together Marco had been playing solo sets in acoustic clubs in London from around 1997. The first hint of the band came in 1999 with a line up of 2 guitars, bass & drums, but in 2001 Marco met Lucie Rejchrtova in a psychedelic club called "Electric Orange" in central London, where drummer James Ovens just happened to be the DJ. Andrew Browning, on bass, joined them a bit later.

Lucia Rejchrtova is a pianist and keyboard player from Prague. Her style ranges from old blues and boogie-woogie to modern jazz, rock and funk. She is also a licenced busker for the London Underground. Lucie was playing keyboards in the underground as a busker when the legendary Arthur Brown stopped by and asked her if she had a band. A few days later she sent him a copy of the 2001 EP. He enjoyed it and asked if they would be his band for some gigs. They of course agreed, and he also accepted their invitation to sing on two songs of their own album "Colours & Lights" - lead vocals on "Kites", and the ending section of "Freeway".

Instant Flight have also shared the stage with Eric Burdon and the Animals, The Yardbirds, Country Joe and the Fish, Hawkwind, Procol Harum, Pentangle, Focus and many more. They played Glastonbury 2010.

The songs on "Colours & Lights" are relatively short overall, with the entire album clocking in at well under 60 minutes for a dozen songs. The sound is quite upbeat, strongly flavored by the early progressive-psychedelic bands from the mid to late 60s, like ("Sergeant Pepper" era) Beatles, Moody Blues, Procol Harum and even a dash of Strawberry Alarm Clock. The CD cover image is a painting by Marco Magnani himself, inspired by a favorite iconic scene from the psychedelic 60s, the tea party from Lewis Carrol's "Alice in Wonderland".

The album was produced by Gary Ramon of Sundial. It was released on CD in 2004 (Beard of Stars BOSCD41) & also as a limited edition vinyl in 2005 (Beard of Stars BOSLP41LE, Special deluxe coloured (green) 220g heavy virgin vinyl, limited to 100 copies only, hand-numbered, including signed big size band's picture & authentication). As well as Arthur Brown's vocal contributions, there were also guest appearances by Gary Ramon - slide guitar solo on "Under The Moonlight", & John Harbourne - trombone on "Her Mystery".

A second full album was released in 2008 called ENDLESS JOURNEY (Headspin HS402CD).

Tracklist:
1. Back to the Light (3.10)
2. Endless Journey (4.18)
3. Celebrate (5.52)
4. Get Away (3.18)
5. Universe in a Verse (4.57)
6. Magic Stream (4.11)
7. The Best Part (2.33)
8. The Land is the Same (3.56)
9. Dreamland (4.03)
10. Vanishing (5.28)
11. Gentle Waves of Sound (5.23)
12. Play for a Fool (5.06)

Lineup:
Marco Magnani / voice, guitars, songwriter
Lucie Rejchrtova / keyboards, accordion, harmonica & backing vocals
James Ovens / drums
John O'Sullivan / bass
Charlie Bennett / organ

And there was also the Instant Flight EP (2001) (Possibly called 'She Shines'? http://www.discogs.com/Instant-Flight-She-Shines/release/1834720)

1. She Shines (5:09)
2. She Passes By (5:49)
3. Top Of The Mountain (6:18)
4. Tears We Didn't Dry (Home Demo Unplugged) (3:12)

Ion Quest - From Central Illinois comes this 5-piece jam/rock/psychedelic band that toured the festival circuit for the summer of 2004 before moving on to other projects. At their best, Ion Quest was able to weave several musical genres into a genre almost entirely of their own. The band consisted of Matthew Gueldenhaar (keyboards), David Gueldenhaar  (guitar), Dan Byrd (bass), Chris Hogan (percussion) and David Mays (drums).

Matthew Gueldenhaar, David Gueldenhaar and Dan Byrd went on to form the funky jazzy rock band 'Because Of The Sun'  based in Bloomington, IL, and active from 2006-2009 (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Because-of-the-Sun/51759760138, https://myspace.com/becauseofthesun). Dan Byrd and David Gueldenhaar also became part of the female-fronted Peoria based Classic Rock covers band 'Mister Sister', which was formed in 2005 when a group of friends wanted to form a new group with the ability to perform music from the likes of Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, Rush and so on. They wanted to bring the big sound and vocals to not only larger events but to the club scene as well. (http://mistersister.net, https://www.facebook.com/mistersisterband).

A recording of Ion Quest playing Live at Echo Lake Harvest Festival on October 9, 2004 is available for download or streaming  - in FLAC, Ogg Vorbis or MP3 (VBR) - at https://archive.org/details/iq2004-10-09.sbd.flac16.

Hi Yam Yam - Dave

Yeah theres 53 left now so this is quite a dent after their being about 80 when we first started going thru this list.

I will see how I go with some others during the week. You posting the info and others paraphrasing it seems to work well!
