Australian cinematic prog band Anubis have finished recording their 3rd album Hitchhiking to Byzantium, but need funding for it to be released on vinyl due to popular demand

They've recently set up this IndieGoGo campaign to fund the album being released on vinyl. It's been up for well over a week and a handful of hardcore fans have chipped in, but the outlook is grim so far- these guys need all the funding they can get to see this through. The perks are well worth the price - signed CDs of their previous two albums, 2LP gatefold vinyls of their 3rd, limited edition HTB t-shirts, handwritten lyrics sheets, the list goes on!

I'm posting this mainly to show you some of their work - if my words don't persuade you I'm hoping that their music will! It's unjust just how these guys put their hearts into their music with barely any recognition, so I thought I'd share it with you guys - who knows, if you like them and contribute to the fund it'll be super awesome of you. Thanks for reading!

Here's the playlist I made of their 2nd album in it's entirety - A Tower of Silence

My problem is that I want only the CD, and that is not one of the options.
Still, hope they can make it.  Looking forward very much to this.  (Actually trying to ratchet down my expectations, I love ATOS so much!)

The CD is still going to be produced regardless of whether this goes through - it's just the vinyl production they need a hand with. The CD version should be available early next year

I realize that.  I was simply saying that if just the CD was one of the "gifts" on the LP site I would pay extra for it just to support the making of the LP, even though I don't actually "want" the LP.  I'll definitely be buying the CD when it is released!

Hey mate,

Thanks for getting the word out there.

That's a quick sampler of the album that was put onto Youtube today.

It's no problem, dude. I'd hate for this to fall flat after all the effort you've put into it - the preview sounds great, I'm dying to hear the full thing!

Hey guys,

We're still hoping to meet our target if anyone wants to inject some funds to the cause. We'd really appreciate it and are proud of the sample that's online. We hope you like it too!

It doesn't look good, man :( I feel really bad for you guys, especially for all the effort you put into it.

What a few people were saying on other forums were that you might've got some more funding if the CD version of Hitchhiking to Byzantium was part of the 'perk' list, since they were saying they'd happily buy the album whilst funding for the vinyl as well.

Is it possible for you guys to start a new fundraising event on a similar website, like PledgeMusic or Kickstarter? If it is possible and you do decide to go through with it again, I'd suggest lowering the target since the demand for vinyl seemed a little overestimated (if that's possible, it'd just mean producing less vinyls) and adding HTB on a CD format as part of the funding. Even putting an advert in magazines like Prog might help raise more attention towards the fundraising - hell, if I didn't find out about you guys from this website, I probably would've done from reading that magazine.

Hope this helps, if not, I wish you the very best, and I'll be looking forward to your release of HTB very shortly :)
