Sorry, I was cooking, so I didn’t have the time to check all the hints. Now I’m pretty sure it is Inspector Montalbano.

Oh, I've heard of him!
I was thinking of European detectives but their authors are dead: Maigret, Poirot and in the case Bergerac he was never in a book(s).

You found him, refugee. It is indeed Inspector Salvo Montalbano. I am watching the English subtitled series on YouTube. My wife's cousin from Sicily put me on his track. We are planning to go with him to the area where the series was recorded next spring, so it is a good warming-up.
Now I'm going to watch the remainder of The Mystery of the Terracotta Dog. Good night...

Province of Ragusa? I’ve never been to Sicily, but I’ve heard it’s more Greek than the rest of Italy. That fits well with the Gilmour hint: "Castellorizon" and the title track are both inspired by a stay at Kastelorizo, the easternmost Greek island. And as far as I know, Gilmour still owns a house in Lindos (Rhodes).
Next one: Real, male, alive.

I've been to Sicily twice, but not yet in the southeast. Siracusa and Agrigento a.o. were founded by the Greeks indeed (Siracusa being the location of Archie's bath tub).
