^ That kicker, man.
Of course, the rest of the team lost a little fire when Kubiak left the arena. Here's hoping he is alright. Ditto for John Fox. Intense week for off the field issues. |

Names? Read off most of your defense. Troy, Taylor, Gay Clark, Timmons. They can't dump these players because they no longer have anyone to dump them for as the result of some poor drafts/player development. |

Sure he deserves some blame. But I think the biggest part of the blame was his choice of OC. |

OC wasn't his choice. Haley was brought in to an impossible situation by Art Rooney. The QB wanted to stick in his rut with his crappy buddy Arians and Tomlin, having no control of his QB or desire to ruffle feathers by making the decision that needed to be made, was simply left out of it. I don't believe for a second Tomlin was in any way involved in the hire, despite what ownership claims, so basically what you had with Haley was an coached doomed by a QB that didn't want to work with him and a head coach that resents him being there. The issue is much deeper than Haley. They need to fully clean house.

Was really pulling for Houston last night, they showed a lot of heart.
On the local front, I think the QB "controversy" is pretty well put to bed now.

First, crazy stuff with Kubiak. Hope he's all right.
Well, yall know my (fairly controversial) belief that coaches are like the President, they get too much praise and blame. Esp the head coach...the OC/DC and GM are more responsible directly IMO. They are the ones that after all that build the team, and come up with the plays and calls and etc
I know it varies each team how the power structure is, and some they all share but yeah, the head coach is more a general coach/keeping the team together and etc etc in my book I mean, how much super attention can they focus on? Their area of expertise maybe but kind of have to delegate, and OC/GM are more responsible for success in my book.
Doesn't put a coach above blame, as to your specific question about Tomlin: Success. Been to 2 SBs and won one, so that helps. Second, something I've tried to tell you numerous times: Media love storm for Pittsburgh. You may not partake of it and that's good but seriously, everyone loves the Stillers. Being coach of that team puts you above Jesus right off the bat.
Besides, Pitt holds on to their coaches for life. I actually respect the hell out of that, but yeah you really can't be surprised he's still around, he's gunna be for 15 or more years.
As for the Philly QB controversy, Oakland helps Edited by JJLehto - November 04 2013 at 09:07 |

I doubt Pittsburgh will let a coach rack up too many losing seasons. Bring Cowher back.

Well it's good to be king until the good times crumble then they come with swords after you
This will be his first losing season, even Cowher had a couple.
The GM better get some talent on the field! I hear their defense can start collecting social security now and the O line is wanted for assault on Ben. Not a winning formula

Honestly, sounds like just another Pittsburgh person who pines for the glory days.
Also one who is taking one loss, albeit a bad one, a bit reactionary.
As a Yankee fan MoM maybe you'll get this, though keep in mind you still dont get quite the same impact as we who grew up here in the heart of it...the dynasty can't roll forever. And it's damn tough to give it up. Many still fight tooth and nail in their mind to "restore the glory" and in their minds anything short of WS victory is still a failure. But the team also sucked for a long period, and my dad never saw success on a grand scale until the 90s so ya know, get to reality there's gunna be some down years.
If they are 10-6+ next year and in the playoffs of course all this never happened and Tomlin is a ok

Of course. Remember they were calling for Coughlin's head years ago...and then they won the SB. And he's still around.

In this area it was pretty much next to death and taxes.
Which btw I fully agree with even with his nightmare of a season.
It's our OC who needs the boot (or a serious talking to about changing styles but the Giants let each person have their sphere) and I love Jerry Reese but he has to fix our talent situation. Making the painful choice of saying "we love you but time to move on" from many vets/underperformers and get new talent. Ironically, defense and o line are the same issues!
Edit: Wasn't LeBron also supposed to come here? I recall the mayor getting ready to rename it "New James City"
you'd think people would cool the jets after so many failed predictions! Edited by JJLehto - November 04 2013 at 13:16 |

Agreed on both fronts. The QB controversy in Houston is probably settled after last night too. Foles haters are still going to be out strong though. Vick has a hell of a blind following for a qb who really only played 8-10 good games in this city. |

It's not about one game, as he points out, the Steelers come into every game looking completely unprepared to play seemingly with no idea what they are supposed to be doing out there. If they are the ancient team everyone seems to want to make them out to be (they have a few over-the-hill pieces, sure, but come on it's gotten out of hand when someone claims 27 yr old Lawrence Timmons is a dinosaur) wouldn't this be the kind of stuff they shouldn't need to worry about. Even the veterans look completely unprepared to play and have no idea what they are supposed to be doing out there on a weekly basis. Tomlin's more stuck in the past than I am, by the way. Keeps talking returning to "Steeler way" and running the football. What nfl is he coaching in? It's all about passing now, Mike. It's illegal to breathe on a receiver in this league now so get with the program and ease up on this desire to run first. As for them going 10-6 next year: 2011 will go down as the last year Tomlin has a winning record as Steelers head coach. I'll put some money down on that one. |

So Richie Incognito is anything but.
History of trouble in in St Louis and turns out he's a bit of a racist f**ker. The media started by talking about "hazing" and "pranks" and at first I thought Martin was being a bit of a wuss, but some of these things said to Martin...yikes! Even if in some way he's trying to be funny, got a twisted way of doing it and it seems to be personal. What a mess. Shame is he was a pretty decent lineman IDK MoM. It's a bad year, that really seems like it. All is fine (except for you) when the team is winning. They gotta rebuild a bit, it may be a QB driven league but they can't be superheroes. And the old school ground n pound may be dead but you do have to be able to run at least somewhat, which they can't. The best teams even today can do it at least a bit and this week there's been some good running displays. Besides all I hear about is how the team is dependent on Big Ben and he keeps taking too much of a beating. So are they too reliant on Ben or "old school running"??? I just cant help but feel if they got the O line fixed, both problems would get better. All will be fine in yinzer nation, even if there's a few years of struggle. I know this is unacceptable but well, accept it. WOW, battle of the backups. Wonder how long Rodgers will be out. |

Hopefully long enough for Detroit to play the Packers on Thanksgiving without him. I know I shouldn't hope for anyone to be injured, but dammit, I want to win the division badly. And after the Bears beat them tonight, the North is jammed at the top with three teams at 5-3.

Well I don't want injury, but if Rodgers was still out when the Giants get to him well it would certainly be advantageous.
Though funny thing is not a real help because we still have yet to beat a quality team, and a Seneca Wallace led offense stricken with injuries isn't really intimidating but my team is 2-6 bro I'll take just the easy W's

Yeah, when all you can do is hand off to Eddie Lacy, the other team figures it out eventually. He had a great game, though. I thought the Packers were going to pull it out.

Lacy is a beast. Teams were really over-devaluing RBs in this years drafts and GB and Cincy got real steals with their rookies.
Reports saying 3 weeks for Rodgers and others saying his season is done. I hope he's back soon. I hate to see a great player be injured. I'd sit him for precaution against the Eagles and have him roaring and ready to go the week after against the Giants. |
