Agree, mostly agree, and uber-agree.
I swear that Nirvana randomly became extremely popular again, and I can't figure out why. Most of their stuff just seems monotonous and forced to sound depressing.
Tom Sawyer I don't mind, but I'd rather hear a bit more variation on the radio. Something from 90s or 00s albums would be nice to hear.
And don't need to add more to the top 40 comment.

Just about every thing on Black Sabbath's 13 album. Being a diehard Sabbath fan I never thought I'd ever say that about their material.
Nirvana - Teen Spirit
These two & all of the horrible cover attempts I've heard over the years. Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water
Rush - Tom Sawyer I know, how dare I? It isn't a bad song. But between rock radio & my uncles I was force fed it way to much growing up.
Name something off of the top 40 list, odds are I don't want to here it again.

Here's 2 more songs that are insipid beyond belief :
Now, I don't know if I have the correct titles or what, but
1) - 'Rockabye' - sung by some dick who thinks his poo doesn't stink...
2) - 'Copperhead Road' - pure redneck rubbish.
Apologies for the immature assessments but this crap deserves no more....

One time while I was at a lan party, some fool decided to blast *only* remixes of DOTA by the basshunter all night long. Over and over again. Even while I was sleeping. If I ever hear that again its going to trigger some deep-seeded trance state where I murder all the people around me and fashion their spleens into a hat

^ Even with the sound turned down, it would make no difference. I just DO NOT find her attractive in any way, shape or form.......very, *very* over-rated in the looks dept. I'm afraid. Give me Delta and I'll be a happy camper

Now they are aiming at the early-teen crowd...... |
Tom, the trick is to seek out the music videos and watch them with the sound turned down. Trust me, I know that Katy Perry `hear me roar’ song or whatever the hell it is is complete dogs**t, but when the music video comes on, turn down the volume, and you'll appreciate it in a whole different way! I just bought a new flatscreen TV, and the first thing I saw on it was that videoclip where she's half-naked in the jungle, and I was like `Hell, now THAT is what Hi-definition is meant for!’

I would never like to discover the amateur videos from very recent Pain Of Salvation shows. I admire and appreciate Guildenlöw too much to see whats happening to him and his project.

No, he sings about getting trashed, showing his girlfriend his old school etc. It's just plain mundane........his voice is 'angry' but he sings sh*t. Utter, utter sh*t.

I work in a grocery store where the muzak is constantly spewing out nothing but crap. It's quite maddening. Good songs are few and far between (Gabriel, Kate Bush, Rolling Stones, Genesis, Asia, Yes, Chicago....) but it's all of the commercial and popular singles. |
I heard Robin Trower "Day Of The Eagle" in the store yesterday. Nice!

That horrid Bublé/Bryan Adams song.
I prefer Rebecca Black's Friday compared to that! Ouch.
Anything by Oasis. I absolutely hate Oasis. Tina Turner Elton John
As for prog... well most neo-prog, Pain of Salvation, Frost*, Pure Recycled Revulsion (Pure Reason Revolution) and all post-Collins Genesis (except Land of Confusion) and although I'll likely listen to it again Jan Dukes De Grey's Mice and Rats in the Loft and Can's Tago Mago. Self-indulgent twaddle!

For my lifetime, the only era I can think of in which I had little problems putting up with popular radio music was the early 90s. In retrospect, some of these groups & songs sound derivative and aged poorly, but compared to the glam & sterile pop trash of the 80s and the Orlando pop factory combined with rappy nu-metal of the late 90s, in retrospect it felt almost like an oasis in a way. But after 1992 a lot of clone bands & weak 'alt-rock' and lousy pop-punk acts were pumping out hits that hurt more than those other eras since I actually listened to the radio then by choice at times...none being worse IMO than the ones that tried to be sorta humorous:
Dead Eye Dick - "New Age Girl" (Dumb & Dumber tune...so painful) Tripping Daisy - "I Got A Girl" (another atrocious ode to a girl) Bloodhound Gang - "The Roof Is On Fire" (crap with 'edgy' swear words)
And the most irritating of all... The Offspring - "Self Esteem" (This is such a terrible song, those hideous strained vocal wailings of "yeaahohhh yeah!!!" and whatnot mentally and even physically hurts. I really hate this song).
