No, it is him Friede. He is indeed allegedly corrupt. Joao Havelange is indeed in his 90s now and he is the 8th President of Fifa.

The remark about the tight shorts and low-cut blouses made me find him. I faintly remembered having been outraged by such a remark in some connection but could not really place it at first.

Yes.
Hint: He actually died eight days before the Berlin Wall opened.

Nope, not Hanns Seidel.
Hint: He was parodied by German's arguably best humorist.

About the hints concerning Sepp Blatter: the 5th was based on an article that appeared on a Dutch news site (nu.nl) today: Blatter thinks about being a candidate for another term as FIFA president. But he does not want anyone after him to be the president for so long.
Back to topic: Hoimar von Ditfurth?

Giving the day of his death was probably too much information.

Indeed it was: giving the exact day of a birth or death excludes many possibilities. Hanns Seidel died 8 days before the Berlin Wall closed.
The next one: Real person, Male, Deceased.

Did he die before 1800?

Oh... my bad. I thought you meant when it was first put up and had an opening ceremony... even though it wasn't open as such.
My mistake.
17th Century birth or death or both?

@VanderGraafKommandöh: Neither.
