Not really what the OP asked for, but my question with all those Zeuhl bands is: How do they get their Kobaian right? AFAIK, Vander never released any Kobaian dictionary and grammar.

Guapo's "5 Suns" comes to mind (though it has been mentioned before), or even "Black Oni". Their new one (and probably their best) is much less Zeuhl, however, and much more heading in a direction completely unique to them.

If you like the last two tracks of Black Oni, you might like the new one.

Nah, I'll probably give them a go. What everyone should avoid is their latest... totally, inexplicably unlistenable. The worst kind of noisy, nondescript crud. "From Guapo to Feo". There's a rare good YT comment for you. Black Oni is one of my favorites of the decade though.

As others have mentioned I'd check out Koenjihyakkei - Viva Koenji!, Bondage Fruit & Combat Astronomy.

Much as I love Guapo, and they are certainly dark enough, I don't hear much metal.

Let's face it, most unused genre combinations are unused for a reason.

Avant-heaviness =/= metal, btw. I certainly don't recall metal in Guapo, but I haven't heard everything by them.
