Thanks Wu. I will try some of the other Founders too when I see them. The liquor store near us lets you do a "pick 6" on 6-packs....so you can literally be a kid in a candy store and sample six different beers in one six pack for one fixed price. I'm not sure how common that is, but I really like to take advantage of the variety.
So is your name based on the SD song?

The best beer I have experienced. I have now one bottle at home, saving it for Epiphany. ![]() |

Oh....I also quite like 1554 by Fat Tire....they call it an 'enlightened black lager'.
![]() Yeah....I used to be a huge fan of Steely Dan (still play their stuff from time to time), I've had that board name for many years on other web sites long before I started posting here.

Ok fellow beer fans....here's an interesting one to try. It's a brown ale with a good caramel feel on the swallow, but then after you swallow it has a very distinct bourbon punch.....the gimmick is that they age the stuff in oak whiskey barrels. Sounds ridiculous but it was a very nice touch....it added boldness and lots of character without wearing out its welcome like the fruit flavored beers can. I'll be getting more of this for sure.

Whisky aged beers are more and more common the last few years. Another trend that seems to be picking up is cognac-aged stouts (WHICH ARE DELICIOUS)
Tonight I tried this limited-edition local brew and it was delicious ![]() |

Here's their current offerings Wu....don't see a vanilla but they probably change varieties now and then...
http://tyranena.com/category/our-beer/ It is so cool that there are so many small and local craft beers to choose from. When certain ones get too big and start to mass produce, if the taste suffers, there are new ones coming. Hopefully the mammoth brewers do not figure out a way to strangle the little guys by distribution. I would expect that to happen, yet, judging by what's on the shelf, indie brewers are still there in large number. |

I've had one from Mikkeler and one from Nøgne ø. Both were ridiculously intense. |

I just checked on nogne-o.com, and it was a one off, now retired.
![]() They also had a one off called Tangerine Dream, an IPA with a strong taste of orange. I would've liked to have had a taste of that one. ![]() Edited by The Bearded Bard - October 19 2013 at 14:09 |

Definitely a great brewery. The bourbon-barrel Sunturnbrew is really tasty as well
