Really surprised nobody's mentioned Trio. Quite famous for the fact that Bruford's credit is "Admirable Restraint".

Of course I mean King Crimson's Trio, not that goofy German synth-pop Trio from the '80's. Da - da - da...

Hi,

I have to look again ... but I think it was String Driven Thing ... it even had a song "Band without a drummer" ... it's been a long time, and I still don't have that album!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

A hidden gem in this category - Clouds "In the Mine". Listen to the 5/4 interlude and the quality of the song itself.

Wow! A lot of great replies here I definitely plan on checking all of these out, really digging Rubber Star and Harmonium's work.

Not sure how I forgot Entangled, or what's wrong with me, but that definitely makes the top ten for me. Thumbs Up

One that isn't too well known is the titletrack on Janus' Gravedigger album. Beautiful airy floating piece with some percussive features, though never drumming. The mellotron on this is just divine. Found an excerpt of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_X9M_-_GrgM

Oh and I know prog electronic is a little too easy, but still:

The three ELP songs I can think of offhand that contain no percussion are "From The Beginning," "Still...You Turn Me On" and "C'est La Vie." They're just as enjoyable as ELP's hi-octane keyboard-laden fare. I'm sure I've forgotten something.

Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis have so many compositions sans percussion. One that's always stood out for me is Tangerine Dream's "Remote Viewing."
