Watching a quite boring American movie there was a scene in a music shop. One of the main characters give some albums to a boy telling him in which order he has to listen to them. If I remember correctly they were Joy Division, Clash (London Calling) and Television. I don't remember one of the four, but back to them there was a vinyl copy of KC In The Wake Of Poseidon, it was in the middle of a CD bank with no other vinyls around so the director has put it there intentionally.

A while ago on the metro I saw a punk who had a Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon backpatch on her denim vest. Out of all people...

Probably already mentioned, but I remember a Malcolm in the Middle episode when Hal meets his new neighbor and goes through his record collection and exclaims "Wow! The '70's! Cheap Trick... King Crimson!"

When the Detroit Tigers take the field at the beginning of the game and the announcer is announcing the player's names they play the "We Will Be Victorious" part from the Muse song Uprising.

Seen yesterday on TV. Riccardo Fogli (former Pooh) dressed like Franco Battiato in 1981 singing one of his 80s hits |

Just now - on the NBC TV show Parenthood - King Crimson's Cadence and Cascade was played in the background. I think it was the one with Adrian on vocals, but it might have been a re-recording by someone else. It wasn't Haskell. It was pretty quiet and brief, but it sure was unexpected.

Ha ha. Not really a public place but I figured I would check this thread out anyway to see if someone mentioned that. Yeah I was watching Parenthood too and caught that. They played it from the beginning(no pun intended

They also used In-A-Gadda-Da-Vidda in the climax of the (very good) 1980s horror movie Manhunter.

Oh, if we're talking about In A Gadda Da Vidda, it was used in the series of "Nikita" (the one with Peta Wilson). It was a chapter about some guy that was on the Vietnam war. I don't remember if they actually used the whole song (I don't think so), but I do remember they got into parts of the extended drum thing. And of course, there's also the Simpsons chapter in which Bart changed the music sheets of the organ player so that he made her play that song in mass. They even state: 17 min later... and everyone in the church was all freaked out.

Cool...the version in American Horror Story was the single release which only included about 4 bars of the drum solo. I remember when I was a kid there were rumors about that the long version of the song depicted a premature burial. The organ heavy intro represented the church service and the drum solo represented the victim of the burial awakening in the coffin, pounding on the lid desperately to be set free. Between this, DOA by the band Bloodrock, and the whole Paul is Dead thing, music was so much fun in the 60's

Oh man I remember that Simpsons episode! I loved that part in the show. That old lady organist was dead after getting through that. Lol. Beautiful and definitely unexpected Prog reference for sure. ![]() |
