Yes and no. It's a continuation of that band but the membership has changed a lot over the years. Mayo Thompson is the one consistent member thru their history.

Yeah, there's a little resemblance there. My avatar is a Bryan Ferry album ("These Foolish Things", 1973) held over my own face. Pretty realistic, huh?

As for the Red Krayola, yes they're still as weird as always. They're avant in a more quiet, subtle way, but overall they've pretty much stuck to their story. After a couple of albums in the late 60s, they were mostly inactive, but then got real active again in the early 90s and have kept it going since then.

speaking of Mayo Thompson, he joined the band for this album (and the next one, I think), and Pere Ubu was the backing band on The Red Krayola's album "Soldier-Talk" from a couple years prior.

Btw, have you heard Motorpsycho's Still Life With Eggplant? You know that Dungen's Reine Fiske plays on it?

My instincts told me that it's best not to go for an album which was released after a double album masterpiece but eventually I couldn't help myself. While I do enjoy most of Motorpsycho's albums, I think this is another good album but was I blown away? No, far far from it.

I don't have TDDU (yet), and I've only heard it once, so, although I thought it was great, I don't have deep feelings for it (yet), so I don't have the problem of seeing SLWE as a follow up to a masterpiece, but I agree with you, to some extent. I wasn't blown away by it either, and, although it has grown on me, I don't see it as a masterpiece, but it's damn close! My number one 2013 album, so far!
