Is it the same band that made that cult classic in the late 60s Steve? | Yes and no. It's a continuation of that band but the membership has changed a lot over the years. Mayo Thompson is the one consistent member thru their history.
|
Mayo Thompson Anyway are they still good and delightfully weird?
BWT sorry for calling you Patrick Duffy here the other day (Oh the days of watching Step by Step ![LOL LOL](smileys/smiley36.gif) ). I realise now it's Brian Ferry, but that pic sure fooled me ![Embarrassed Embarrassed](smileys/smiley9.gif)

Let's see... ![](http://www.ultimatedallas.com/episodeguide/qPatrick_Duffy.jpg) Yeah, there's a little resemblance there. My avatar is a Bryan Ferry album ("These Foolish Things", 1973) held over my own face. Pretty realistic, huh? As for the Red Krayola, yes they're still as weird as always. They're avant in a more quiet, subtle way, but overall they've pretty much stuck to their story. After a couple of albums in the late 60s, they were mostly inactive, but then got real active again in the early 90s and have kept it going since then.

The avi is spectacular! -and very realistic
Thanks for the heads-up about Red Krayola too, I'm definitely making a note of them.

![](http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61kNZ0kAcyL.jpg) PERE UBU - "the Art of Walking" (1980) speaking of Mayo Thompson, he joined the band for this album (and the next one, I think), and Pere Ubu was the backing band on The Red Krayola's album "Soldier-Talk" from a couple years prior.

I caught them live during that tour and they were friggin awesome! I kinda lost touch with their output after that, but Frengers was the bee's knees at the time, most definitely. | I have their last three, and Frengers' easily my favourite!
Btw, have you heard Motorpsycho's Still Life With Eggplant? You know that Dungen's Reine Fiske plays on it? | My instincts told me that it's best not to go for an album which was released after a double album masterpiece but eventually I couldn't help myself. While I do enjoy most of Motorpsycho's albums, I think this is another good album but was I blown away? No, far far from it. |
I don't have TDDU (yet), and I've only heard it once, so, although I thought it was great, I don't have deep feelings for it (yet), so I don't have the problem of seeing SLWE as a follow up to a masterpiece, but I agree with you, to some extent. I wasn't blown away by it either, and, although it has grown on me, I don't see it as a masterpiece, but it's damn close! My number one 2013 album, so far!

Me too ![Handshake Handshake](smileys/smiley42.gif) I really love this thing and feel it has somewhat of a bad rep amongst ADll fans. I don't get it ![Confused Confused](smileys/smiley5.gif)
