I think we know the two popular names will be disputed most, but i'm interested to see everyone's opinion.

As much as I love Wetton's work with Crimson, I don't think he can compare (musically OR in terms of importance to the genre) to Levin.

Wetton. Wait, but now I'm thinking Levin- because he's a beast too.

But Wetton's hotter than this ^ pool ball. [sarcasm]

As a bass player: Levin. So I voted for him.
But Wetton is one of my favourite singers / songwriters.

I considered Greg Lake, but only after I made the poll.

I will go for Levin because he's probably the best bassist in the world
John Wetton and Trey Gunn can do marvelous work too. Tough choice!

Wetton. I think he "fits into Kc" more. They are both excellent bass players though.

I remember back in the 70's when critics acclaimed Wetton & Bruford to be the best rythm section in rock.
I think Levin is slighty overated IMHO!

Why did you left out some, for example, Greg Lake and Boz Burrell?

I didn't explain my poll very well. I was shooting for the three that
"most" people relate to with King Crimson, Wetton beginning, Levin
middle and then Gunn modern. I know Greg Lake did bass on the first
couple of albums and then Gordon Haskell and Boz the next couple.
*The three "big cheeses" were what I was shooting for. By all means though cast a vote for Lakey, Gordy and Boz Boz.

As another fellow bassist who walks amongst...I voted for Levin...everything about him is tasteful beyond measure. Gunn and Wetton are great too...but I look at Trey as more of a guitarist given bass-duties for the current Crimson (which isn't a bad thing, and TCOL would dispute this a bit). But just listen to his solo albums...he's much more guitar orientated if you ask me...more ostinato bass-riffing there. And just because I have issues with a lot of things...Wetton's tone can kinda get irritating but once again good player. I'm happy Lake wasn't brought into play...not a big fan.
