Anyone else here going? I just bought my ticket today, apparently they're playing Thick as a Brick in its entirety and I'm really stoked. Missed them last two times they played here.

Isn't it billed under Ian Anderson solo?

Never seen Jethro Tull play live, neither Monsieur Stork solo. I won't be going this time either. Low on cash and diamonds.

I'm going!

I've seen Jethro Tull before in Gothenburg, and Ian Anderson once in Malmö.

Be cautious here...Ian's voice is not what it used to be. He's been hit or miss for a few years now. I know folks who have seen him and he's been awful. I don't even think Martin Barre is playing with him anymore either, that would be the nail in the coffin for me.

And it's promised TAAB2 too. Concert in Moscow soon - 7.09. Of course I'll come, it's the event I can't miss..

Yep, this seems to be part of the same Ian Anderson solo band tour that comes to Finland as well, Anderson has no future plans for the Tull name. I saw a band called Jethro Tull a few years ago, but instead of Barre there was the solo band guitarist Florian Opahle standing in. I can't remember the reason. He and the rest of the band played well and the setlist was nice, but the maestro himself was quite excruciating to listen to. On vocals that is, flute he still can play.

I was sort of interested in getting a ticket for this tour, but the previous experience warned me off.

He's still on this tour? I attended his concerts in Arendal and Oslo, in August and sometime in the fall respectively, of last year. He played JT's "biggest hits" in Arendal (but that concert was part of a country festival), but both TAAB albums at the Oslo one.

Highly recommended to those who haven't seen him or JT live before. Those who have might enjoy it too, especially if you like both albums. The music was great, and I didn't miss Barre (a lot), especially on TAAB2 Florian Opahle did a very good job (not surprisingly, as he was one of those who recorded that album), but, as has been said before in this thread, Ian's voice isn't very good. He doesn't even sing everything himself. His vocal partner, Ryan O'Donnell, isn't half bad though.

I enjoyed both concerts, but then again, I hadn't seen IA/JT live before the concert in Arendal, so it was a fresh and exciting experience for me. Those who have seen IA/JT live before, and expect his vocals to be like they were in the '70's, will most probably end up disappointed. Consider yourself warned!

Ian himself is very accurate with this. If he tours with musicians involved in his solo projects he calls it IAN ANDERSON or JETHRO TULL'S IAN ANDERSON (http://jethrotull.com/tour-dates/). But local promoters often use the Jethro Tull name.

I think it's a part of the plan, not because Ian can't sing. If you've listened to TAAB2 you would notice that Ryan O'Donnell sings some vocal parts on the album.

I'm aware of that, but I think he wouldn't have been part of the project if Ian could hit those high notes. I mean, why would Ian share vocals with someone if he could sing it all himself?

One exception might perhaps be that part of 'Swing It Far" where they answer each other; How's your father? Not to chipper and so on, but that might not have been written if it wasn't already decided to bring another vocalist in.

I'm only speculating here, of course. I don't know for sure.

^ I never had problems with Ian's vocals. I even like the way he sings in 2000s more than his singing in the 70s. Less eccentric, but more feel, more heart, more wisdom now.

There was a period, around "Crest of a Knave" (1987) album, when he had real voice problems and sounded almost like Mark Knopfler, but 2 years later, on "Rock Island" he was OK.

I've seen Ian (with Tull or with musicians working on his solo albums) 4 times in the last 10 years or so and he sang pretty well. Maybe his voice changed to worse in the last 2-3 years, but I doubt it's so. Tomorrow I'll see Ian live, after the concert I'll share my impressions.

I haven't seen Tull this millenium, but there were times, particularly on the JTull.Com tour that watching Ian sing was just painful.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

A flatmate of mine saw JT last year and was quite impressed, that's what I'm going by but apparently not all agree with him! Haven't heard TAAB2 at all, looks like it's billed as an Anderson solo album. Anyone know what this touring lineup is?

You might enjoy the concert more if you listen to the album in advance Wink
