Mike Oldfield’s “Platinum” was partially recorded at Electric Lady studios in New York, with locally-based musicians. Three of them—Allan Schwartzberg, Neil Jason, and Francisco Centeno—all made appearances with Paul Shaffer and the band on “Late Night With David Letterman”, sitting in for the regular musicians on occasion.

When Triumvirat toured in the US in '74 and they played the complete music to the Illusions On A Double Dimple album, they opened their set with an as yet unrecorded song "The Burning Sword Of Capua", which would be recorded the following year in '75, appearing as the beginning track to side two of the studio album Spartacus.

Hey Doug, that would have been something special to see! Do you know who else was on the '74 tour with Triumvirat and who was the headliner

You bet it would have! They were on tour with Fleetwood Mac, and Fleetwood Mac were the headliner.
PA member cstack3 (Chuck Stack) was lucky enough to have seen them on that tour, and has had some insightful comments to make on it. Member Garion81 also saw them with Fleetwood Mac, and included in the bill were Jefferson Starship, when they played LA. Edited by presdoug - August 28 2013 at 07:56 |

There were also Triumvirat concerts in the US in '75 that involved Little Feat, Caravan, or Nektar. |

Tony Iommi was in Jethro Tull for 1 gig (The Rolling Stone's Circus one in 1968) but his guitar part was overdubbed anyway so you can't even hear him play on the video.
Also, Rick Wakeman was asked to join David Bowie's Spiders From Mars the same day as Yes. That's about it though :) |

Obscure? Well Trent REZNOR renting the same house where the Charles Manson murders took place to write and record The Downward Spiral in 93/94 was pretty Bizare and interesting to me. ;)
REZNOR even called the studio 'le Pig' after Manson of course. ;) |

I remember reading that...reminded me of the story that Genesis and Van Der Graaf Generator both stayed at the same reportedly haunted house to write Foxtrot and Pawn Hearts. I think the house was owned by Charisma Records president Tony Stratton-Smith and of course Genesis and VDGG were both on his label. It's my understanding that a photo of the house appears on the inside LP cover of Pawn Hearts. Anyone able to confirm this or provide more details?

Several of the old country house recording studios are reported to be haunted. Headley Grange in Hampshire is supposedly haunted, Genesis did most of the writing for Lamb there but it's more famous for Led Zepp's classic era albums II, IV, House of the Holy and Physical Graffiti. Ringo's old retreat of Tittenhurst Park in Berkshire where Judas Priest recorded British Steel is allegedly haunted by ghost horses.
/edit: It was Nursery Cryme, not Foxtrot. Edited by Dean - August 31 2013 at 03:48 |

^^ it's all about atmosphere. That studio REZNOR recorded in was torn down shortly after the finishing of The Downward Spiral's recording process. It's a special album and I think being in such a dark place really helped him cement a very raw, crazy dark sound with TDS. Who doesn't get a little weirded out when they hear MR. SELF DESTRUCT? It's pretty creepy, but the music sounds terrific. Anyway, it's a unique accomplishment. ;)
