Those gorillas are absolutely hypnotic, Neelus.

I really dig the album and don't know why it's gotten the bad rep it has, but I do prefer their earlier work nonetheless. Hey if you're interested in these guys, then I just posted a recent concert of em in the "I need vocal orientated post-rock" thread. It's a performance with the Wordless Music Orchestra, and the whole thing is professionally caught on film.
Will check it out!

I prefer their earlier work as well. In fact, Magic Chairs is my least favorite even counting Piramida, but it still has some great tracks on it, despite its sometimes passionless pathos.

I agree. I think it's a tad too 'pretty' for it's own sake. Still pretty good though. I'd rather listen to it, than say a Celine Dion album.
Hands down better than Celine Dion. Most albums are that way, anyways, by default. Wink

I think the only reason I discovered Efterklang was because of iTunes. Their albums were on sale, so I bought Parades/Under Giant Trees and Magic Chairs.

I've seen them live a couple of times. The first being at the Roskilde Festival some years ago. I knew nothing about them, but then again some of the best experiences at festivals tend to be the ones you don't plan imo. I do remember dancing quite a bit.

What's really strange is that these last two tracks, listened in isolation away from the whole album, sound like they are from a completely different album.  Hubardo starts out like a dark black metal album and gradually morphs into a jazz fusion album.  Really strange.  What a piece of work this is.

I ditched the Ache album. Too "happy" for me right now. I bet it'll get the Moon Safari crowd moist in their knickers.

Instead I'm watching/listening to Rare Goat's 2012 performance at the Red Light Cafe. Steve your firebird looks so freaking sweet!
I really dig the post-punkish flavour you bring to the riffingBig smile

^ I haven't listened to Ache in a long time but I have both their first albums on one CD, I even played The Invasion out of Green Man in the radio when I had a chance to host a prog show once, I love how it ends with that crazy chilling scream!!!!!

Ha! Big smile

Thanks for watching that.  We're fortunate we had someone in the crowd who did such a nice job filming the thing - I think she's a friend of Bob's.  My current avatar is a still from that performance, btw.

Heh, I've got the same thing. I think I prefer the debut, which was intended as the soundtrack for an experimental rock ballet, whatever that meansLOL
Pictures From Cyclus 7 though is an entirely different beast. It's from 76 and it shows as well - maybe not in the most flattering way though...

Yeah I thought it looked familiar.
I just heard Be Yourself. I think I prefer your drummer's vocals over Jack's actually.
Nice avi Steve-o - and you're wearing a PT shirt underneath your Hells Angels jacket tooCool
