The album it's from, 2005's `Back To The Goblin', is really pretty good! Maurizio Guarini's keyboards frequently have a more proper symphonic prog sound on that one! It's all decent, but like most of their albums, there's a couple of aboslute stunning pieces to be found on it.
Back to the Goblin is on my pick up list next time I'm in sonicboom records. Toronto doesn't carry much prog, but that store has a little bit. :)

It's essential Goblin, IMO. Fabio Pignatelli's bass playing is integral to the Goblin 'sound'...since Bruno's primarily a guitarist (and was in Daemonia, and I did get to see them), how does he sound recreating Fabio's lines?

I'm going to give the `Back' album another spin on the way into work now, Verslibre! At the concerts, a lot of the time Bruno plays like he's in a metal band lol! But when the band launches into the jammier/improv sections, he shows a lot of restraint and subtlety. In fact, during those parts, the band almost resembled 70's Pink Floyd.

Yep, that would be the one I would choose too, Verslibre.
I like `Contamination' too, not exactly a proper new `studio' release, but just one I picked up not long ago and gave a positive review to, not sure if you have that one, Tom?
Other than those, there IS a vinyl of `Back To The Goblin' available, in addition to numerous reissues, the CD versions of which are usually jammed with bonus tracks/demos/alt.takes, etc.
Man, I feel really fortunate to have snagged 'THE AWAKENING' Goblin box set.
6 amazing CDs in a hard cover case consisting of Profondo Rosso, Roller, tenebre, Zombi, Suspiria, Il Fantastico Viaggio Del Bangarozzo Mark.
Couldn't ask for more. I still really can't decide what my favourite album is. :)
I really hope they come to Canada one day....I can only dream.

Michael, I don't recall you mentioning much about the more recent Goblin albums, so Nonhosonno is worthwhile ?? I know Greg has several on his list. I always found their soundtracks to contain the odd dud track, which may well work in the contexts of the films but come across fairly weak in audio format........

Damn. They were here a few months ago and I skipped it kinda because I only know Roller, and what if they only played stuff from the other gazillion albums?

'Suspiria' is amazing - probably is their most consistent from the albums I have (8 - including the Reale Brittanico album) - otherwise it's Cherry Five all the way.

Suspiria has some trippy experimental-sounding music on it, so one person's "consistent" might not be another's. Great score but I've always preferred Zombi aka Dawn Of The Dead to that one.

I understand the 'consistency' bit, but when something like a goofy, boogie piano piece comes through the speakers (a piece on 'Zombi' - don't recall the title) I think "eek".......that lets the whole thing down (for me), but as I mentioned earlier, maybe in the context of the films, it probably makes perfect sense.
