Woke up this morning, opened the curtains and noticed a big space where previously had been our car.

bastids!

No Alan, not too harsh at all - I was pissed off enough last night when a biker dropped his high end BMW into the back of my car, gouging the wing & denting the bumper before buggering off at high speed (there goes £150 excess & a year of the NCB!)

So, no Alan - you are quite within your rights to wish them a horrible death; indeed, as Vicky would say, I hope their next poo's a hedgehog!

That's a good one, thanks Jim (and Vicky) - and I hope it's followed swiftly by a large pineapple.

Hammering down with rain & he couldn't keep the bike upright, so leant it against my car, whereupon it slipped even further, sliding down, taking a trail of paint with it then clanging into the bumper.

I should have reversed!

Annoying thing is I was a biker for many years, so I'm really careful on the roads when it comes to bikes... then you get an ignorant numpty like this!

Mind you - what am I moaning about? You've had the bloody thing stolen!

Just back from what was quite possibly the best Cropredy weekend in all our 22 years' experience. Weather perfect, all the bands seemed to seriously pull out the stops, Fairport Convention were on very good (and quite rocky) form, loads of laughs & silliness with the largest group of us yet to hit the festival (final count = 33 of us including 3 kids & a dog... even managed to get the entire convoy camped together).

Bands discovered for further investigation:

Brooks Williams - great American acoustic blues guitarist
Peatbog Faeries - combining trance samples & Scottish folk at manic speed; inspired!
The Dunwells - young group of lads from Pudsey, all with excellent voices & a good stock in trade of rocky americana

Those to avoid:

Martin Barre band - sorry, Martin; you're great with JT & played a storm with Fairport on Saturday, but you're not a band leader.

Medieval Babes - oh, purleeeze! Very clever vocalising & great backing musicians (none of whom were named or thanked ), but about as contrived an image as it's possible to get & trust me, coquettish glances from each one of you for the whole hour may work in a small venue with moody lighting, but in a field at 1pm, just looks pathetic.

Moment of the weekend:

20,000+ folk fans singing lustily along to 'I Love The Dead' whilst an executioner sprays blood from Alice Cooper's severed head into the audience.

Alice Cooper blew Cropredy away & was namechecked (eg "how f+++ing good was Alice on Thursday?") by virtually every band over the weekend including Fairport.
