Ok I have to walk a few hundred meters to dip my toe in, but it's still close enough. And expensive enough, sure.

try Urban Dictionary or Yahoo answers

1.S.O.L. 948 up143 down
Acronym for the words of "sh*t Out of Luck." It is used in reference to the state of having run out of all other options, wherein the remaining situation is less than desirable.
"I didn't finish university, had a child out of wedlock, possess little to no marketable skills..Sounds like I am S.O.L.!"

S.O.L. 92 up155 down
A condition of amazing wretchedness or unluckiness; to be used either to describe a person's status or to tell that person bad things have happened or are about to do so. Also SOL.

SQL 37 up90 down
SQL is a term used in car audio, a
subjective interpretation between SQ
and SPL.

SQ = sound quality
SPL = sound pressure level

SQL = combination of both with a
small sacrifice in SQ and SPL.
I want to build a SQL sound system for
my car, i.e., I don't want high sound
quality and I don't want high sound
pressure level, I want something in
between.

also, least but last

1.php 372 up64 down
Setting things straight ...

PHP began life as "Personal Home Page" (Tools), and later the "Personal Home Page" (Construction Kit). Later it would be merged with an SQL query tool for webpages and become PHP/FI, or "Personal Home Page / Form Interpreter".

FastForward to the present day and it's no longer a mere tool to handle generation of Personal Home Pages, reuiring a new acronym, some clever chap came up with:

"PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor"

Cunningly (or not), in the same vein as "GNU's not Unix" and "PINE Is Not Elm", PHP became a recursive acronym, whereby the first letter actually stands for the full acronym.

Deep, huh?

I thought SQL stood for Standard Query Language.  That's another definition anyway.  I can understand it and speak intelligently with people who know how to do it, but I've never learned to be fluent in it myself.
