I read a new album review this morning for a band that included a member of Sun O))) and a member of Boris.  I had not heard of this band before so I made a mental note to mention it here.  Unfortunately, I spilled mental jelly on my mental note and blotted out the band's name so I can't recall what they were called.  I want to say it was something with Emerald in the name...but I am probably mistaken.

Not only Sunn and Boris, but Ghost also!  that's 3 great bands for the price of one.  Though Ghost doesn't really count because that guy (Michio Kurihara) is a part time member of Boris anyway.

Thanks for the heads up!  I'm interested.

The guy in Prog Magazine gave it a good review and I figured having members of Boris and Sunn O))) would appeal to many shredders.

They're the 2 bands that opened me up to drone/doom several years ago.  Prior to getting Sunn0)))'s "Monoliths and Dimensions", I never dreamed I would ever go anywhere near modern metal music.   I didn't even really know it was considered "metal" until after I started reading about the band after I bought the album.  I heard it described as "power ambient" and I liked the sound of that.

Anyone listening to Delta Machine? That's the best Depeche Mode album since Ultra.

I don't know that one, but I've heard good things about it here and elsewhere.

Nothing to do at the office today, and since I'm all alone,  I'm listening to Magma extremely loud since I woke up. I think I'll suffer from some kind of brain damage. I'm really dizzy. Feeling cool, though.

I was a little surprised to see him reviewing that.  It's almost as if he lurks on the Shred.

One problem with listening to all of these SPIN Compilations over the years is that they through in too much rap/hip-hop that I really don't care for, but nothing like listening to rap music at work where the "N" word is like the main noun of the tune.
