I haven't heard any of them if I'm honest... I do have a lot of Oldfield records, but for some reason the whole notion of releasing a "sequel" doesn't appeal to me at all. Maybe I'm damaged from all the bad movie sequels I've seen on the big screen though.

I only have tubular bells 2003 and II, of which I absolutley like 2003 more. Unfortunatley I haven't heard the original, but I have the impression I might just as well like the 2003 more... I just compared the opening theme with the original I had in some other compilation album and it kind of sounded better on the re-recording, more detail in the instruments, specially the bass which was almost absent on the original recording and sounded so nice on the newer version. As for Tubular Bells 2, well I just felt it was a bad attempt at recreating the first album with new music. It had just about all the "equivalent" musical passages, but less inspired, though it still does have some 2 or 3 "songs" that are truly beautiful.

TBIII got my vote. Absolutely loved it, and have played it even more than TB1 or 2.
I bought the orchestral one a decade ago and still regret buying it ever since.

Other than the theme from The Exorcist (which got massive radio play back in '73) I've never heard it. I do have "Crises" and like a lot of it though so no vote from me.

I voted for TB3 and The Millenium Bell as its multi choice. Never bothered with the orchestral version , don't like TB2 and the cleaned up version is completely pointless. The appeal of the original version was its grainy feel and that feeling of being part of nature. Its very spiritual. You don't clean it!!

I seem to be in a minority here in that I love TB2. It was actually the first Mike Oldfield I heard, so it probably had that advantage. I heard OTB a little later and didn't really get on with it and was surprisingly in late coming to the original, and haven't heard the remasters. I didn't get far through TB3 though -- I was very disappointed to hear it go straight into a 4/4, dancefloor sort of beat, but might give it another go on the strength of people's comments here.

The TB II live dvd is amazing, that's why my vote goes there. The cd version is good as well but sounds maybe a bit too produced. TB III has some great tracks and a few mediocre tracks (Man On the Rain, anyone.. MO even used the same drum track as on Moonlight Shadow there). Millenium Bell is a quite lame album imo.
